• Rose Revolution Square - The meeting point is in front of the Bicycle Monument near Radisson Blu Iveria at 8:45 AM (Rose Revolution Square, 50 meters from Rustaveli metro station). Look for the tour leader wearing a red scarf. For groups of more than four, hotel pick-up is available at 8:15 AM to take you to the old capital.
• Jvari Church - After a 30-minute drive, the tour arrives at Jvari Monastery, known as the “Monastery of the Cross.” This sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery is near Mtskheta and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with other historic structures in Mtskheta. Jvari Monastery is perched on a rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking Mtskheta, the former capital of the Kingdom of Iberia.
• Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - Mtskheta, one of Georgia’s oldest cities, was founded by ancient Meschian tribes in the 5th century. Its historical significance and cultural monuments have earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. Mtskheta was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD and remained the coronation and burial site for most Georgian kings until the 19th century. The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the second-largest church in Georgia after the Holy Trinity Cathedral, is renowned as the burial site of Christ’s mantle and is a principal Georgian Orthodox church. Visitors have about an hour of free time in Mtskheta for shopping, wine tasting, boat trips, and more.
• Memorial History of Georgia - The Chronicles of Georgia is a monumental masterpiece overlooking Tbilisi Sea, featuring 30-meter-tall stone pillars with intricate carvings of Georgia’s history, kings, and religious figures.
