Dating back to the 1st-2nd millennium B.C., Uplistsikhe was a significant religious, political, and cultural center during the Hellenistic and late Antique periods. Visitors can explore the ancient streets, rock-carved theatre, royal halls, pharmacy, pagan temples, and Christian churches. The remains of granaries and large clay wine vessels offer insights into the daily life of its inhabitants.
- Gori - The Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori highlights Stalin’s Georgian origins. As the secretary general of the Communist Party during World War II, he was one of the most influential dictators of modern times. The museum features Stalin’s birthplace, a hut where he was born, his armored railway carriage, and a statue that stood controversially in Gori’s main square until 2010. Additionally, the museum displays many of Stalin’s personal items, including office furniture, belongings, and gifts he received over the years. There are also numerous illustrations through documentation, photographs, paintings, and newspaper articles.
- Chronicles of Georgia - The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, is renowned for its impressive sights, including the Narikala fortress, the Mother of Kartli, the Tsminda Sameba Cathedral, and the largest - the “History of Georgia” memorial. Although few visitors explore it, the memorial’s significance and grand scale are worth attention and time. The monumental sculpture ensemble “History of Georgia” was crafted by the talented Tbilisi artist Zurab Tsereteli, a world-renowned sculptor and artist known for creating monuments worldwide. This monument is considered one of his finest works. The memorial took 20 years to create, but unfortunately, it remains incomplete, with several elements still missing. The master’s tools await the long-anticipated completion.
