Enjoy a brief bus ride to the boat ramp, where you’ll easily board the boat using the convenient ramps. After a quick safety briefing, it’s time to set sail!

Journey down the Upper Waiau River, feeling the fresh air, admiring the crystal-clear waters, and taking in the breathtaking views. Stop along the way to learn about the area’s rich history, share some laughs, spot trout, revisit Lord of the Rings scenes from three filming locations, and listen to native birds as the driver quiets the engine. Capture plenty of photos and enjoy the thrill of high speeds and spins, which are fun for everyone!

Arrive at Lake Manapouri and soak in the tranquility, surrounded by majestic mountains and a view that will leave you in awe.

Disembark into the National Park for a brief guided nature walk among native plants and wildlife.

Hop back on the boat and head upriver for more excitement!

Upon returning to the boat ramp, your bike will be ready for you to ride the designated cycle trail, 10km/7mi along the river’s edge, back to Te Anau’s town center. The trail is well-maintained and requires only a moderate level of fitness.
