Built in 484 AD by 5000 monks, it houses two churches: one dedicated to St. Nicolas (491 AD) and the other to the Annunciation of the Mother of God (502 AD). Saint Saba’s body is displayed in the main church, with his tomb in the courtyard. While known for its hospitality, women are not permitted inside but can view the chapel from the Women’s Tower. The area offers excellent hiking opportunities.
