Relaxing evening along the coast - We don't have much kayaking experience but the 2 hour trip was just right. Our guide Jane did a great job of checking we were comfortable, the spray skirts correctly sealed, and explained a lot about the nature and the wildlife. We paddled along the coast in the calm evening waters and it was a super relaxing, pleasurable experience. A porpoise was swimming close to our boat and we saw a sea otter wrapped up in kelp for bedtime. Jane was especially careful to give the animals the space they deserve. Can definitely recommend this trip, even for those people who like us don't have much experience in kayaking.

Amazing Experience - Amazing experience! Laura was an awesome guide and we saw seals, bears, eagles, and underwater wildlife. Even though it was raining, we were kept as dry as possible with the kayak skirts.

An unforgettable, peaceful time on the water we will cherish! - Given the recent fire in Telegraph Cove, we didn’t know how the area and the local businesses would recover this June. When we arrived, it was abundantly clear everyone in the area including the North Island Kayak team had pulled together in preparation for this tourism season. We were impressed by how well organized the experience was and how smoothly everything flowed! With our guides, Ashton and Jane, we felt safe the entire time on the water even though neither of us had a great deal of experience with kayaks (other than on a calm lake). I was unsure how much paddling would be involved, but after the initial push to get out of the cove, things slowed down, and we moved more carefully and at a slower pace as when we began observing the wildlife. As the sun slowly descended toward the horizon we could see ghostly jellyfish dancing below the water. Farther from the marina, we saw a humpback whale surfacing to breathe and even had an opportunity to spend time with an otter playing in a nearby kelp forest. Steller sea lions, who were likely curious to our presence, also began poking their heads up out of the water as if to say, “Hello!” On the journey back, our guides spotted a nest with a fledgling bald eagle, stretching her wings high above in a nest, while her parents stood sentinel. My wife and I have never been in the kayak quite like the one that was provided. It had a rudder, places for feet, etc. So learning how to set everything was very new for us. For example, I think I set my seat back too low, and eventually, my back began to hurt during the trip. At one point, I asked Jane how I should have set it prior to our leaving. Genuinely concerned about my comfort, Jane lended me her coat without question to help support my back as we paddled back to Telegraph Cove. I cannot say enough about our guides. Ashton and Jane had an impressive knowledge of the local flora and fauna, and, perhaps more importantly, shared a deep appreciation for the area. I felt comfortable asking any questions I had during our time on the water, and their enthusiasm and passion was contagious. The North Island is truly something special, and interacting with nature like this, at a slower pace, was a truly spiritual experience for my wife and was one of our favorite, if not our favorite, part of our trip to the island!

Triple whale breach - We were a small group of 5 and our guide Tobin. Tobin was awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. We spotted some whale action early off and decided to go check it out as a group. We were all very glad we did when we ended up coming about 20-30 feet away from some whales that breached beside us. Best tour ever! Once in a lifetime experience! Would go back again in a heartbeat and recommend. Thanks again to Tobin for a great job.

Top 10 life experience - We had lowered expectations after our guide told us it was his second day in Telegraph cove. After watching sea lions, a bald eagle and seeing humpbacks blow from far across the straight, our guide Tobin used his underwater microphone contraption to listen to a single orca which shortly after swam by. Content with having seen an orca and having had a lively paddle, We started to make our way back to the coe. Before we knew it that single orca was followed b 2 separate pods of orcas that my son swears were “coming right at us”. To see 15 of 205 known Northen resident orcas with a guide on his second day during a 2 hour tour was truly a top 10 experience for every member of our family. Our teenagers are not huge fans of being outside doing physical activity but they exclaimed it was a thrilling experience it was and how enthusiastic our guide ( Tobin, who we now follow on instagram) was.

Weather too poor - Did not go ahead due to weather. Not informed until we arrived, although we were told we should have had an email (never arrived). Star taken off. Appreciate the fact that the company have safety at heart.

Deception - Only 1h20 on the water instead of the 2h planned, no explanation on anything by the guide, we could have done this on our own.
