- Gangaikonda Cholapuram - The journey continues to the town of Gangaikonda Cholapuram, located approximately 45 miles from Thanjavur. This town served as the capital of the Chola dynasty for over 250 years. The temple here, also dedicated to Lord Shiva, is renowned for its exquisite bronze sculptures.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense).
- Dharasuram - Post-lunch, travel to the town of Darasuram, about an hour’s drive from Gangaikonda Cholapuram. It is home to the beautifully preserved Airavatesvara Temple. This stone temple is designed like a chariot and features sculptures of deities from the Vedas and the Puranas.
At the conclusion of the tour, guests will be driven back to Thanjavur and dropped off at their hotel.
