My visit to Darasuram Airavateswara Temple on 9th July 2018 - Beautiful temple built in typical Cola era style. The shiva lingam is huge and the Lord is called Sri Airavateswara. The name is so because Lord Indira's white elephant prayed here to Lord Shiva so that he should be relieved of a curse and Devendran's white elephant got relieved of the curse. Hence the name Lord Airavateswara. Ambal is situated in a separate shrine next to the lord's. Phenomenal & beautiful architecture which cannot be equalled. Beautiful lawns around the temple which are well maintained. This is a UNESCO Heritage site. Beautiful temple & a must visit for everybody. This must be on everyone's itinerary.
