Eager to immerse my family in Greek culture, we embarked on a culinary adventure in Thessaloniki, cooking and dining with a local family. The experience was a delightful blend of education and entertainment, perfect for families seeking cultural enrichment.

A Warm Welcome in Thessaloniki

Our family has always been drawn to the rich tapestry of European culture, and Greece, with its ancient history and vibrant traditions, was a destination we couldn’t resist. As a museum curator, I am constantly seeking experiences that blend education with entertainment, and this time, I wanted to immerse my family in the heart of Greek culture. The opportunity to cook and dine with a Greek family in Thessaloniki seemed like the perfect way to achieve this.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm “Kalos irthate!” and a glass of local liqueur, setting the tone for an evening of genuine hospitality. Dora and Michael, our hosts, along with their daughter, mother, and aunt, welcomed us into their home with open arms. The atmosphere was lively, with other guests joining in, creating a sense of camaraderie that felt like a family reunion.

Cooking, Dancing, and Cultural Exchange

The kitchen quickly became a hub of activity as we donned aprons and began our culinary adventure.
