Upon arrival in Kanyakumari, the first stop is the 3000-year-old Kumari Amman Temple, located on the seashore. This temple is dedicated to the virgin Goddess Kanyakumari, who is believed to have defeated a demon at this location.
- Vivekananda Rock Memorial - The next visit is to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, situated on an island near the shore. It was here that the philosopher Swami Vivekananda meditated and decided to spread his teachings worldwide.
Enjoy lunch (beverages not included) at a local restaurant.
- Gandhi Memorial - After lunch, visit the Gandhi Memorial. Designed like a temple, this memorial is located by the sea at the site where his ashes were displayed for public viewing before being immersed in the sea. The temple is an architectural wonder. On October 2nd, Gandhi’s birth anniversary, the sun’s rays fall precisely on the spot where the urn containing his ashes was placed.
- Thiruvalluvar Statue - Then, take a ferry ride to the nearby island where a 133-foot-high statue of Thiruvalluvar, a renowned Tamil poet and philosopher, stands. This massive stone statue resembles the Colossus of Rhodes. It took 5,000 sculptors to complete this masterpiece, which weighs over 14 million pounds. The statue’s height symbolizes the 133 chapters of the poet’s famous work, Thirukkural.
Witness the vibrant colors of the magnificent sunset at the ocean’s edge before concluding the trip to Kanyakumari.
At the end of the tour, guests will be driven back to Kovalam and dropped off at their hotel.
