Incredible - We had the most lovely few days on this tour considering it was a bit chaotic. My brother had fallen ill and we were given a personal room for him to recover in. I had then left my passport in the room after leaving for the private island i contacted alex and he was so incredibly helpful unfortunately it had been taken to the cleaners already but he was able to recover it and get it sent to my hostel in hanoi. He was so easy to deal with and an amazing tour guide through the whole experience! The private island was so nice and super chill vibes with good transport between. The food was also practically 5star dining such incredible talent and fresh local seafood to enjoy. They also cater towards allergies and preferences incredibly serving separate dishes or altering the food to preference. the drinks aswell bartenders seem to be so well knowledgable and the cocktails were insane! i couldn’t recommend this enough

Terrible organisation - The vast majority of reviews are written by tipsy people with a staff member hovering over them asking them to rate 5 stars and include their name before the trip has even really started. A bus picked us up from our hotel and took us to the port where we eventually found Oasis Cruises. The boat was nice enough, definitely a bit old but not bad, incredibly small rooms even for cruise standards and the sheets and bathroom could have been cleaner. The food is very hit and miss. Some dishes were great others not so much. Also very repetitive. One of us is vegan and they accommodated very well for it. Food is served “family style” with a bunch of plates on the table to share with other guests. The music both inside and upstairs was deafeningly loud. I wanted music, but the constant blaring techno wasn’t what I had in mind. Kayaking was good but you have to do it in your scheduled slot. There is only one hot tub not multiple as is stated and if you don’t get in quick you’ll miss out. We eventually asked for karaoke to be set up but the ipad was dead and had to be charged. Once set up it was great but you couldn’t search for songs and had to just scroll through a list but this was very fun and most of the group got involved. This is the main positive, we got along very well with most of the other guests and had many nice conversations with new people. Our room was near the boats engine so was loud but still had a decent sleep. On the second day everything truly fell apart. We sat waiting in the back of the boat for ages waiting for our transfer boat to the island. Throughout the entire day a different group of guests was constantly being put before us and we had to wait around a lot as a result. None of the staff have a single clue what is going on at any point in time. Many other guests staying the one night trip had very short trips they weren’t told about ahead of time because of where they were staying just so the company could save money on boat fuel…so those guests checked in at 2pm one day and left the boat at 9:30am the next day, missing a whole day. The “transfer boat” was actually a boat to a harbour to get onto a small bus in Cat Ba to go to some weird theme park to have lunch in a cave. The lunch was okay food and the cave was cool enough but there was a dj blasting music the whole time at 11am… the vibes were odd to say the least. We then waited around at that strange statue theme park (which was closed) for ages for another bus to take us to another 30 min boat ride…we checked out of the cruise boat at 9am and got to the island at 2pm. The island is okay. The rooms are basic but nice enough. The facilities are pretty old and tired including basic things like the beach chairs. The beach itself is okay but it’s not exactly tranquil, there is a lot of rubbish and noise pollution from boats, the view is of an under construction city. The BBQ dinner on the island was good and playing billiards/darts is always fun and met some cool people to have good chats with. The aircon in our room did not turn on. Shower was decent. Breakfast was very similar to the boat; basic but good. My friend and I believe that they make the journey to the island as difficult as possible so that you’re more inclined to stay there, which a few people did but when you already have accommodation booked back in Hanoi it’s not really an option so the island feels a little like a waste of time. The third day was a rough repeat of the second. 11:30am we got back on the 30 min boat back to Cat Ba. Then a bus for 20 mins. Then another boat for 5 mins then another bus back to Hanoi for 3.5 hours. Left at 11:30am and got back at nearly 5pm and they do not drop you off at your accommodation and you have to get another taxi at your cost. Ultimately, the 3D2N cruise is something I would implore you to avoid. The 1 night cruise would be a better option but even then think about where you’re coming from because they may cut your trip short without notice. The best part of the trip was the people but it was not worth the time and money wasted.
