- Porcelain House - The Porcelain House is an invaluable structure adorned with 4,000 pieces of ancient porcelain, 400 jade stone carvings, 20 tons of crystal and agate, and a million pieces of ancient Chinese ceramic fragments.
Situated in a lively area, it is near the former residence of a key figure in the Xi’an incident and a patriotic hero in China. Originally a century-old French-style villa, the residence is a five-story building covering a total area of 3,000 square meters.
The roof features a 768-meter-long dragon relief crafted from over ten thousand porcelain pieces and prominently displays the English phrase ‘China Dream’, flanked by Chinese characters and the national flag. Inside, there are numerous renowned paintings made from ceramic chips, including the world-famous Mona Lisa. Additionally, the house’s walls, known as the ‘peace wall’, are composed of 635 vases from the Republic of China and the late Qing Dynasty.
- Ancient Culture Street (Gu Wenhua Jie) - Located on the west bank of the Hai River, in the northeastern corner of Nankai District, Tianjin Ancient Culture Street is a commercial pedestrian street. Historically, it was a place where people worshipped the Goddess of the Sea and boatmen gathered joyfully.
Tianjin Ancient Culture Street features small booths or shops modeled after the folk shops of the Qing Dynasty. There are approximately 100 shops, all showcasing Qing-style architecture. The doors and windows are adorned with colorful pictures depicting history, mythology, figures, birds, and flowers, using openwork, relief sculptures, or circular engravings.
The street primarily offers three types of goods. The first includes cultural relics, antiques, and old furniture. The second consists of traditional folk items, such as baby dolls and painted clay sculptures of Clay Figure Zhang. The third category includes restaurants, tea houses, and entertainment venues.
- Wudadao Museum - The Museum is situated in the heart of Tianjin’s renowned historical building block “Wudadao”. It was established in 2002 by the Tianjin Historical and Cultural Administration.
The Museum’s exhibition hall spans 1,000 square meters, showcasing and preserving over 1,000 historical photos and valuable ancient materials. It documents more than 400 years of Sino-foreign relations from the mid-16th century to the mid-20th century, involving over 10 countries such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Canada, and features more than 400 new photos.
Its permanent exhibition includes Tianjin-An Epitome of Modern China-Hundreds of China’s First, Tianjin in Western History Paintings, Engraved 1900, and Western Historical and Cultural Notes, offering a unique perspective on Tianjin’s history and tracing the modernization that led the trend in China over 100 years ago.
- Ferris wheel, Eye of Tianjin - The Tianjin Eye is a 125-meter-tall giant Ferris wheel constructed above the Yongle Bridge, claimed to be the only wheel built over a bridge. During the day, its stark white steel structure gives it an almost industrial feel, and its reflection in the river makes the display doubly impressive.
The Tianjin Eye is electrically powered and features 48 passenger capsules, each accommodating 8 passengers, completing a rotation in 25 minutes, with a maximum capacity of 768 passengers per hour.
Besides riding the Ferris wheel, viewing the Tianjin Eye from a distance and taking photographs are also excellent options. The Ferris wheel resembles an eye from afar, which is how it got its name.
