Enjoy a boat ride (tickets not included) into the lagoon, navigating through the marshes to a watchtower for a view of the pelicans’ island. The lagoon is home to about 5% of the global population of Dalmatian Pelicans, affectionately known by locals as “Curly Pelican.” In addition to pelicans, the park is a haven for hundreds of bird and amphibian species. After the boat ride, take a short drive or stroll along a 950-meter wooded bridge parallel to the main road to immerse in nature and spot birds chirping in the trees. Visit the 360-degree watchtower, rising 36 meters (118 feet) above the treeline, offering a fantastic spot for photography. Finally, explore the Nature Museum, showcasing the park’s wildlife.
Apollonia Archaeological Park - Apollonia, one of the ancient Greek colonies dedicated to God Apollo, was founded at the turn of the 6th century BC by Greek colonists from Corinth and Corfu. It quickly became a significant city-state on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. In antiquity, it was renowned for producing delicious wines, olive oil, and its philosophy school, where Emperor Augustus studied. Artifacts from both Greek and Roman influences have been discovered, and today, visitors can explore the remnants of the mighty city, showcasing both periods. Its importance was such that the Romans constructed a branch of the Via Egnatia to connect to Apollonia.
Vlore - After a morning of exploration, spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the deep crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean. Renting a sunbed is recommended for maximum comfort and beverage service. The sunset is breathtaking! In the evening, take a leisurely walk along Vlora’s promenade, savor slow-cooked meals from a variety of traditional local restaurants, and end the night with drinks, enjoying the sultry air and the sound of Mediterranean waves. Vlorë - Sarandë
Llogara National Park - Embark on a beautiful journey through the Albanian Riviera, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea throughout the day. After checking out of the hotel, travel through Llogara National Park, situated 1040 meters above sea level. A 40-minute drive from Vlora, stop at the top of Llogara Pass for coffee or tea while enjoying the spectacular view extending to the Greek island of Corfu. After the break, continue driving along a scenic road towards the most beautiful part of Albania, the Albanian Riviera.
Himare - Beach option 2: Stop at Himara Beach, one of the best beach towns along Albania’s stunning coastline. With a distinct Greek influence, excellent food, and plenty of activities, it serves as an excellent base for beach time. (Beach umbrellas not included)
Porto Palermo Castle - Visit Porto Palermo Bay to explore Porto Palermo Castle, built by the Albanian ruler Ali Pash Tepelena in the early 19th century, dedicated to his young bride. It is beautifully situated on the edge of a small island, offering a fantastic view of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a perfect spot for photography or a quick swim en route to Saranda.
Saranda - Arrive and check in at the hotel in Saranda. Saranda is perhaps the most international city in Albania, attracting more tourists than any other area in the country. Enjoy a free evening to explore the city center and promenade. There are numerous coffee shops, bars, and restaurants specializing in various international and traditional cuisines. If you’re lucky, you might catch one of the many street concerts organized throughout the summer season. After dinner, choose from a variety of night bars and clubs, or relax at a beach bar to enjoy the fresh air and the sound of waves.
Dhermi - Make a short stop at the picturesque town of Dhermi. It offers a beautiful balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, with narrow streets, stone houses with orange shingle roofs, and wooden windows.

Butrint National Park - Begin the morning with a visit to Butrint Archaeological Park, one of the most important archaeological sites in Albania. With immense cultural, historical, and natural value, Butrint was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992 and a National Park in 2000. A walking tour of the ruins and the museum will transport you back over 2700 years of history, tragedy, and triumph. (A professional museum guide for the park is available for 30-40 euros per tour, depending on availability, paid on the spot)
Gjirokaster Castle - On the return journey to Tirana, visit Gjirokaster Castle and the old bazaar located in the heart of the old town. The castle dominates the town, offering a fantastic view and overlooking the strategically important route along the river valley. It is open to visitors and houses a military museum featuring captured artillery and memorabilia of the Communist resistance against German occupation, as well as a captured United States Air Force plane commemorating the Communist regime’s struggle against imperialist western powers.
Gjirokaster - Stroll through the decorative stone streets of old Gjirokaster, surrounded by Ottoman-era stone houses with stone shingles and typical wide tops with wooden balconies. Refresh at local street cafes and take home a handcrafted souvenir to remember your visit.
