The National Historical Museum is also an option for those interested.
Belsh - The quaint town of Belsh is surrounded by numerous small lakes. Primarily an agricultural area, it may not initially seem like a tourist destination. However, it offers a peaceful retreat when the weather isn’t ideal for mountain excursions or when one seeks a break from the beach.
Enver Hoxha Pyramid - This building, designed by Enver Hoxha’s daughter and son-in-law and completed in 1988, was once the Enver Hoxha Museum and later a convention center and nightclub. Now covered in graffiti and surrounded by makeshift camps, its marble walls are deteriorating. A decision on its future is still pending. During the tour, there will be a 10-minute stop for an explanation.
Berat - Known for its rich history and authentic culture, the city of Berat features a renowned castle.
Gjirokastra - Saranda
Gjirokaster - The beautifully restored Ottoman-era Skenduli House has been owned by the same family for generations, except for a brief period during the communist era. A family member often guides visitors through the house, which dates back to the early 1700s and was partially rebuilt in 1827. It boasts many intriguing features, including a wedding ceremony room with 15 stained glass windows. A guided tour of the house is included.

Gjirokastra Bazaar - The Castle of Gjirokastra, a monumental structure, majestically overlooks the city. Built in the 4th century, it resembles a giant stone ship and is a testament to nearly two millennia of Albanian history. It is one of Albania’s most visited sites. Visitors will spend about 2 hours at the castle, including travel time.
Butrint National Park - After lunch, the tour continues to the top archaeological sites of Butrint. This ancient Greek city, later a Roman colony and bishopric, was inhabited since prehistoric times. It declined at the end of Antiquity and was abandoned in the Middle Ages after an earthquake.
Hotel check-in and free time by the sea in Saranda, the unofficial capital of the Albanian Riviera. During summer, many from Tirana flock here to enjoy the vibrant beach and nightlife along the bustling seaside promenade.
Saranda - Albanian Riviera - Llogara - Vlora
Porto Palermo Castle - Located near the Ionian Sea, south of Himara, this 19th-century fortress, also known as the Castle of Ali Pasha, is a fascinating stop along the coastal road. Though dark inside, exploring the battlements offers stunning sea views.
Llogara Pass - This high mountain pass in the Ceraunian Mountains along the Albanian Riviera connects the Dukat Valley in the north with Himarë in the south. A brief stop is planned for photos of the breathtaking Albanian Riviera.
Vlore - The Monument of Independence in Vlorë, Albania, commemorates the Albanian Declaration of Independence. Created by Albanian sculptors Muntaz Dhrami and Kristaq Rama, it is located in Flag’s Plaza, near the site of the first Albanian government in 1913. A 10-minute stop is scheduled at this historic center of Vlora.
Vlora - Durres - Tirana (Beach and History Day)
Durres Amphitheatre - The Amphitheater of Durrës is one of the ancient world’s most majestic and among the ten most beautiful Roman amphitheaters. Known among Antiquity enthusiasts, it is a Balkan gem gaining recognition. Discovered in 1966 by archaeologist Vangjel Toçi, it was found beneath a fallen fig tree, leading to its excavation.
Durres Castle - En route to the Amphitheater, visitors will see the City Walls, built in blocks that have endured through time. Various rulers have left their mark on these walls, which served as a defense system. The massive walls, originally 18 meters high, were constructed by Byzantine Emperor Anastasius I in the 4th century A.D. to protect the city. Emperor Justinian later reinforced them with observation towers.
