- Enver Hoxha Pyramid - This iconic structure on the main boulevard is a reminder of the communist regime. Originally built as a museum for Hoxha, the Communist Party leader and First Secretary from 1944 until his death in 1985, it was co-designed by his daughter and opened as a mausoleum in 1988. After communism fell, it became a cultural center and National Television office, surviving plans for demolition to remain a symbol of the era and a popular tourist attraction.
- Postbllok - Checkpoint Monument - Created by former regime dissident Fatos Lubonja and artist Ardian Isufi, this memorial to Communist isolation features a concrete bunker (one of thousands built for families during the dictatorship), concrete supports from the Spaç labor camp, and a painted section of the Berlin Wall from Potsdamer Platz.
- Blloku - Once a restricted area for the communist elite, this neighborhood is now the vibrant heart of Tirana, with chic boutiques, lively cafes, bars, and street art. The former villa of Hoxha remains untouched, a testament to the dictator’s opulent lifestyle, though it can only be viewed from outside. Visitors can enjoy traditional food and rakija at a nearby restaurant during a brief stop.
- Bunk’Art 1 - This museum, a recent addition to Tirana, occupies a vast underground space originally intended as a shelter for the elite during an attack that never occurred. Now, it houses exhibits on the country’s communist history across nearly 3000 square meters of rooms and corridors. Built in the 1970s and kept secret for years, the bunker was designed to withstand nuclear attacks, with double concrete walls and capacity for over 100 people. Its labyrinthine design and historical significance are truly captivating.
