The region is often referred to as the Tuscany of Albania.
- Berat Castle - The tour will include a visit to the Berati fortress, one of the few continuously inhabited fortresses in Albania. It is perched on a 187-meter-high hill on the left bank of the Osumi River. Originally a proto-urban settlement in the 7th-5th century BC, it was transformed into a fortress town due to its strategic importance, stretching up to 1,400 meters in length and covering an area of 10 hectares. Within the fortress, visitors will explore the Church of Saint Mary, the Onufri Museum, and several Byzantine churches. Berat has been recognized and protected by UNESCO as a significant cultural heritage site since 2008.
- Berat - In the old quarter of Berat, descending from the fortress, the distinctive architecture of the houses will be admired, along with the King Mosque, Bachelor’s Mosque, and Halvetie Teqe. Berat is also celebrated for its excellent traditional cuisine.

Today’s journey will take us through the authentic life of Albanian villagers, both present and past. We will travel to the south-east of Albania, to the small town of Belsh which is located in the area known as the Dumre plateau, renowned for its 86 miniature karst-based lakes. We will then proceed further south to the ancient town of Berati, a location rich in cultural heritage that has been officially recognized and safeguarded by UNESCO since 2008. There, we will explore the Berati fortress, a rare inhabited fortress in Albania, strategically positioned atop a 187-meter-high hill to the left of the Osumi River’s incline. Within the fortress area, we will make visits to the noteworthy Church of Saint Mary and the Onufri Museum housed within it, along with several Byzantine churches. Descending from the fortress into the old region of Berat, we will appreciate the distinct architecture of the local houses and pay visits to the King Mosque, Bachelor’s Mosque, and Halvetie Teqe.
