- Parco Villa Gregoriana - This park, situated at the base of the city’s ancient acropolis, was commissioned by Pope Gregory XVI in 1835 to restore the Aniene River’s bed, which had been damaged by the 1826 flood. Historically, the river created a wide curve around the acropolis before cascading from a limestone spur into the plain below. Originally, the river formed four waterfalls, now reduced to two. The site held strategic importance as it oversaw the transhumance route from Abruzzo, which later became the Via Valeria. The Romans had constructed hydraulic structures here, with 12 known from current findings.
By the late 20th century, the park had fallen into disrepair but was reopened to the public in 2005 following a significant landscape restoration project led by the FAI, the Italian National Trust.
- Villa d’Este - Villa d’Este is a quintessential symbol of the Italian Renaissance and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in Tivoli, near Rome, the villa is a masterpiece of architectural and landscape beauty. It is renowned worldwide for its magnificent fountains, featuring stunning and evocative water displays, and is considered the finest example of an Italian Renaissance garden in Europe.

Villa Adriana - Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana) in Tivoli showcases the grandeur of the Roman Empire. It is one of Italy’s best-preserved and most visited archaeological sites, earning its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
The villa was constructed by Roman Emperor Hadrian at the base of the Tiburtine Hills between 118 and 138 AD. The expansive residential complex covered approximately 120 hectares (about 300 acres) and resembled an ancient Roman city. The site featured buildings, baths, temples, barracks, theatres, gardens, fountains, and nymphaeums. The villa itself was designed on two levels: the upper floor, serene and inviting, was reserved for the emperor’s official use, while the lower floor was lively with the activities of slaves.
