From Seoul to Vietnam: An 8-Day Adventure Through Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An, and Halong Bay
After leaving my finance job in Seoul, I embarked on an 8-day adventure through Vietnam, exploring Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An, and Halong Bay. Join me as I share my experiences of vibrant cities, serene landscapes, and unforgettable memories.
Arrival in Ho Chi Minh: A Warm Welcome
After leaving my finance job in Seoul to explore Southeast Asia, I found myself in the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh, ready to embark on an 8-day adventure through Vietnam. The moment I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly driver holding a sign with my name, a comforting sight after a long flight. This seamless transition from the airport to my accommodation set the tone for the rest of the trip.
Ho Chi Minh is a city that never sleeps, and I was eager to explore its vibrant streets. I spent my first evening wandering around, soaking in the lively atmosphere and sampling street food. The energy of the city was infectious, and I couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the trip had in store.
Exploring the Mekong Delta and Cu Chi Tunnels
The next day, I joined a group tour to the Mekong Delta, a place that had always intrigued me. We boarded a sampan and cruised down the river, stopping at Unicorn Island to taste tropical fruits and listen to folk music. The highlight was cycling around Tan Thach village, where I met local villagers and experienced their daily life. It was a humbling experience that reminded me of the simple joys of life.
Later, we visited the Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of underground passages used during the Vietnam War. Crawling through the narrow tunnels was both thrilling and claustrophobic, but it gave me a deeper understanding of the resilience and ingenuity of the Vietnamese people. The day ended with a flight to Hoi An, where I was ready to immerse myself in the town’s romantic charm.
Halong Bay: A Breathtaking Finale
The final leg of the journey took me to Halong Bay, a place that had been on my bucket list for years. Boarding a cruise, I was immediately captivated by the stunning limestone formations and emerald waters. The cruise offered a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, with activities like kayaking and swimming in hidden grottoes.
As the sun set over the bay, I joined fellow travelers for a seafood dinner on the sundeck. The camaraderie and shared experiences made the evening unforgettable. The next morning, I rose early to practice Tai Chi on the deck, a serene way to start the day before exploring a limestone cave filled with stalagmites and stalactites.
Leaving Vietnam was bittersweet, but I carried with me memories of breathtaking landscapes, delicious food, and the warmth of the people I met along the way. This 8-day glimpse of Vietnam was more than just a trip; it was a journey of discovery and connection. If you’re looking for an adventure that combines culture, history, and natural beauty, I highly recommend this Vietnam adventure.
