Explore the Isle of Mull’s rugged beauty on a guided farm hike. Meet Highland ponies, Shetland sheep, and experience Scottish Hebridean farming life.

Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Tobermory - We’re on a hill farm, so unsurprisingly, there aren’t any listed ‘tourist’ sites on our guided walks (hence why I had to select Tobermory as the attraction). The walk starts at the entrance to The Fauld Farm just outside Tobermory then we head up on to Meadow Ridge (so called because it’s covered in a carpet of wild flowers in spring…

A must-do on Mull - Our walk with Karen was such a treat and a real highlight of our time on Mull. We learnt so much about the history or the land as well as the flora and fauna and the views were incredible. Karen was so knowledgable and brilliant company on our hike. We got the opportunity to meet her highland sheep and ponies and learn more about the workings of an authentic highland farm while taking in the stunning landscape. Plus biscuits!!! I can’t recommend highly enough, thank you Karen!x

So many good memories of The Fauld - Our tour around The Fauld with Karen was wonderful! The tour was so many things — a wildflower walk, an introduction to traditional Scottish farming, a hike to great views, a story-time of the history of the farm and the area, and a "hello" to her friendly Highland ponies and sheep. As a settler in Canada where my roots extend back only a few generations, I was moved by Karen's deep connection to the land, and felt privileged to be welcomed to her family's farm. This was a highlight of our visit to Scotland, one that I will remember for years.

Brilliant Farm Hike near Tobermory - I booked the farm visit with Karen for my daughter and myself while we were visiting Mull for a four day break. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend to anyone looking to learn more about nature, farming, and to experience a little of real life on Mull. Karen is a brilliant guide - we were on foot and she collected us from the bus drop-off and took us to the farm. The views are outstanding, we had a fun and fascinating few hours meeting the animals and learning about the challenges of farming on Mull. If you are looking for something a little different I couldn't recommend this tour more. When we had finished Karen was kind enough to recommend, and drive us to, the Isle of Mull Cheese and Spirit cafe/farm just outside Tobermory where a very good lunch finished off our morning. Thanks Karen! Gaynor & Kelsey

Memorable experience - I recommend this hiking tour enthusiastically. Karen is a friendly, kind, and knowledgeable guide to all aspects of her remarkable property. I was traveling by bus, and she made my visit much easier by driving me to and from the bus stop. It was wonderful to see some early heather, meet the sheep and ponies, and even hear a skylark. Perhaps most of all, the vistas are extraordinary. I was fortunate enough to visit on a beautiful day, but I would have enjoyed it even with less perfect weather. In this tour you get a genuine feel for what is distinctive about the Isle of Mull. This was a very special experience, one of the most memorable of my trip to Scotland.

Time well spent and got to know interesting farming facts and farmers way of life in Scotland. - Karen showed us the farm with enthsiasm. We saw the farm animals and got to feed them. We climbed up a hill with her and got to see enthralling views all around . She familiarised us with the hills and seas. We got to know Scottish history and farmers way of life. It was time well spent. She was knowledgeable about wildflowers and plants and told us interesting facts about plants. I would highly recommend this tour.

A very special day! - Karen and her farm were the highlight of my trip to Mull and Oban. She's truly a kind and generous person, who went out of her way to make me (traveling solo) feel at home in Tobermory, even before our wonderful hiking day. The farmlands are amazing - the views to die for if you love gentle hills, water, and dramatic Scottish skies. I loved learning more about the Highland ponies and sheep, and a lot of background about farming on Mull.

5 stars! - Karen was fantastic. The ponies were gorgeous. The views were well worth the climb, and the botany and local farming context were a cool part of the isle we almost missed.

Something different, interesting and a real pleasure of a morning - A very interesting walk through Karen's farm....the scenery itself is stunning but made so much more interesting by Karen's knowledge of the history, ecology, their animals, the geology. An excellent activity and close to Tobermory. Do this while you're on Mull.
