Highlight of our Portugal trip. - This tour was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Our guide Carolina, a history teacher, gave us superb tour the Convent. She provided detailed information about the history and architecture of the Convent. She was able to keep the tour entertaining and educational. She was very good at pointing out small details in the artwork and intricate carvings of the building facade. The Convents connection to the Knights Templar is what made us book this tour but there is so much more to see. The Manueline style of gothic architecture is in full display at the Convent.

More than a tour——-a journey through time - Carolina was an incredible surprise as our guide for the Nights of the Templars tour. Having a history teacher lead us made the experience truly exceptional. She was patient and gracious even though we were running late and had trouble finding the meeting place. Her knowledge of the Templars, Portuguese history, religion, and architecture was outstanding. She covered every aspect of life in the castle and monastery in a way that was engaging, vivid, and memorable. Her love for Tomar, the castle, and for Portugal itself was deeply felt and made the entire experience come alive. You could tell this place was personal to her, especially knowing she grew up visiting it, and that made the tour even more meaningful. I’m not sure I’ve ever been on a tour that felt so worthwhile. Carolina made it unforgettable, and it was absolutely worth our time.

A cold day at the convent - On a cold day, the convent was freezing! But the tour was worth it. Our guide Sara was well versed on the history and special characteristics of the multiple structures. There was lots to see - indoors and outside - and just enough places to get warm for a few minutes. So glad we didn’t miss it.

Our guide was Miguel and... - Our guide was Miguel and he was very knowledgeable. Tour was well worth it! Learned a lot of small details about the history and architecture we would not have picked up on our own.

A perfect tour guide - Our guide was terrific, so knowledgeable about the structure, the decorative details, the political history, the modifications made over time. She had a perfect command of English and had a lovely sense of humor. She took time with us, was patient with our wanting to stop to take photos. It was a perfect tour, exceeding our expectations.
