If you are traveling from Taupo Turangi, take HWY 1 and turn onto HWY 46 (National Park). The journey to the car park will take approximately 20 minutes. Look for the sign on the left side of the road that reads ‘TONGARIRO SHUTTLE CAR PARK’.
If you are coming from National Park Village, take HWY 47, travel for about 25 to 30 minutes, then turn right onto HWY 46 (Rangipo). From there, it will take approximately 10 minutes to reach the car park. It is 400 meters from the Ketetahi track entrance (do not proceed down that road).
Car park staff will be present inside the car park to check you in. Please present your confirmation.

The service transports you from the private parking area to the trek’s starting point at Mangatepopo. Hike at your own pace, whether quickly or leisurely.
There’s no need to wait for hours for a shuttle if you’re quick, and no need to rush if you’re taking your time. Upon completing the trek, you’ll reach the 4-hour Ketetahi car park. From there, it’s a 900-meter walk back to your parked vehicle.
