A Must-Visit Museum in Toronto - I had a wonderful experience visiting the Royal Ontario Museum. It’s such an impressive and beautiful place with so much to see and explore. Every exhibit feels interesting and well presented, and there’s a great mix of history, culture, and nature all in one museum. I loved how you can learn something new in every section — from ancient history to fascinating natural science displays. It’s engaging for both adults and kids, so it’s perfect whether you’re visiting with family or on your own. The atmosphere is inspiring, and you could easily spend hours there without getting bored. Definitely one of the must-visit places in Toronto!

Great experience - Viator price better than museum site - The Viator ticket price ($19) was much lower than the price on the museum website ($35). Museum is wonderful. Took a free docent led tour that gave a wonderful overview of museum highlights. We also explored on our own - many very interesting exhibits, displays, and artifacts!

World class museum - great experience - Spent half day here and did several of the special exhibits. Many permanent exhibits were spectacular as well. Storytelling was exceptional - it was more than just viewing objects. We enjoyed the Canadian perspective with special exhibits highlighting discoveries in Canada such as Mistaken Point and Burgess Shale. Also enjoyed the extensive furniture collection from Canada. Docents were very friendly and helpful!

There's no on site... - There's no on site parking but there are prepay parking garages around the area. The exhibits are very interesting and there are a lot of cool things to see. The toddler area and dinosaur exhibits are higher up on the floor levels. I didn't research the museum before going so I wasn't aware of the toddler area and dinosaur exhibits until we stumbled across them while getting ready to leave. Had I found those areas earlier on in our visit we could've spent more time in those areas with my 2 and 3 year olds (they loved it). Overall a great experience.

Special exhibits summary - Saints sinners lovers and fools exhibit was amazing. Wildlife photos of the year also amazing. We enjoyed them so much that we hit the sharks exhibit and we were not impressed. This exhibit is minimalist and non-specific.

Huge and richly endowed. - Very large museum with themed pavilions. Great diversity of civilizations. Collections of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, First Nations, Byzantine Etruscans, Egyptian... Beautiful collection of dinosaurs and birds... It takes time to get everything. Easy access by metro. Clothing storage service (useful in winter).

ROM Shark Exhibit - Very mediocre exhibit. Yes the life size models were visually interesting but it was extremely crowded. Most disappointing were the lack of interactive elements. For adults who could spend the time to read and process all the facts it was okay. But not well suited to kids who would not have the ability or attention span to read all the information. I have previously seen special exhibits on whales and spiders which were memorable. This exhibit lacked the imagination and creativity to make a meaningful impression. So disappointing in this day and age that it could not have been better put together. Also found the rest of the museum to be deadly boring and I am someone who likes museums. Other than the interactive bat cave, it's really unappealing for kids. Not worth the fortune it costs to go there.

It could have been good - In short, the museum has wonderful exhibits. But it wasn't until later in the day when the undisciplined school kids had left that we could relax and enjoy the museum. The unacceptable language and behaviour echoed throughout the halls. No one bothered to reign in these kids. Security said they have no power to do so, the museum operations guy said the same and obviously the teachers didn't care to take control. Great. So we pay our money and have no choice but to listen to this garbage. I can't believe nothing can be done. We've toured many museums in other countries and are not subjected to this.
