Tortuguero 2 night stay - Tortuguero was incredible. Once we got to Caño Blanco our guides were professional and pleasant. The journey there was straightforward and the boat ride to our lodge was v exciting (90 mins) and we felt very remote. The lodge was busy but was ran like a well oiled machine. We saw some amazing wildlife and v much enjoyed visiting Tortuguero for an explore and beer. Our journey back was long but that’s Costa Rica.

3 beautiful days - Super well organized. Timing was always perfect. Flexible where necessary and possible. Even the quite long journey was interesting and flew by. Very knowledgeable and committed guides. Tell beautiful interesting back stories. Good spotters for all the beauty Tortuguero has to offer! As far as we are concerned, a 10!

Well worth it - true all-inclusive wildlife experience - This was a great experience, and I would recommend it to any one (solo, couples, groups). Our tour guide (Fernando) was knowledgeable and did a great job. The trip from San Jose to Tortuguero was long (several hours on the coach bus and boat), but overall very easy and comfortable. The stay, food and drinks at Pachira Lodge were nice and yummy (not a 5-star if that's what you're used to). The forest does wake up at night so be prepared to see wildlife up close (monkeys, lizards, and bugs). As a solo traveler (on my first trip), the staff and tour guide made me feel safe the entire time.

Very good a! - This tour is very good. Just the way to Tortoguero (Lodge Pachira) is already an excellent boat ride. The hotel is wonderful and the meals are great. The tours included are more or less, you don't see as many animals as we would like.

Tortuguero trip - The transportation and logistics of getting everyone to the right place and time (particularly Fernando) was amazing. The tours were great and our guide was very knowledgeable. We stayed at Aninga Lodge. The rooms were typical lodge style, but with the high humidity levels our room felt damp and there was no facility to dry damp clothing after a boat tour in the pouring rain.

The lodge was lovely, the... - The lodge was lovely, the location unbeatable. The food was edible but definitely didn’t stand out. We saw lots of wildlife up close and really enjoyed the daily tours. The town of Tortuguero was a nice surprise and we wished we had spent longer there. Note that this tour is a large group so at times we felt herded along like sheep.

Better tours and more to see in other places of Costa Rica - Would rate higher but communication received from TripAdvisor was incorrect and caused confusion. Rooms are set in rain forest, which I liked and food was fine (average).

Better not to book as offered - Two very different experiences we had with this tour. Conclusion: We cannot recommend booking the tour as it is offered! a) Positive: everything we experienced on the ground in Tortuguero: a tropical rainforest as an endless summer with daily rain, sometimes heavy (each for about 20 min.), colorful variety of plants, a lively, lively wildlife that doesn't care about the people watching it: Basilisks, caimans, various bird species, poisonous mini-frogs, sloths and howler monkeys above your lodge that wake you up (yet very early). Our tour guide Enrigue was omniscient & had a good eye. The staff at Pachira Lodge are attentive and will help with any questions. We spontaneously extended by one night and reorganized our onward journey via reception. b) Negative: Transport to the port of transfer (from the bus to the boat) & advance information by travel agent Viator (!) or Tripadvisor: Info rather vague, sometimes misleading (as far as luggage is concerned)? or little concrete; so we received the confirmation letter, which the tour operator had already issued from the spot immediately after our booking, almost five months earlier (!) (with name of lodge & contact person) only on request two days before the tour. Also annoying is the group transport as an arrival. A very large tour bus, obviously bringing together four or five tour groups where Tortuguero was part of the program, also picked us up from the hotel in San José and took a completely superfluous detour. Only to have a rather strange breakfast after about 1 1/2 h of travel in mass handling, which had been sold in the package superfluously. For the return journey we have disconnected from the group transport and arranged our onward journey via the reception of the Pachira Lodge. It was a wonderful 3 1/2 hour boat tour of the Caribbean coast river world (including full grown crocodile in Rio Moin) and seamless pickup in Moin ...
