Originally constructed in the late 13th or early 14th century as a small defensive fortress, the Trakošćan complex we see today is a 19th-century creation, blending romantic architecture with nature. The castle was renovated in a neo-gothic style, and the surrounding landscape, including a lake, was designed after the English park model. Visitors can admire a valuable collection of paintings, furniture, and weapons while strolling through the castle’s picturesque surroundings.
