Visitors will see the Orthodox cave monastery “St. Maria Dormata,” which has been expanded and modified within the cliffs by monks over centuries and remains in a functional state. Following the tour, lunch will be enjoyed with a folk program at a Moldovan family pension in the nearby village.

Located in central Moldova, just a brief 45-minute drive from Chisinau, Old Orhei (Orheiul Vechi) is a must-visit destination for those interested in history, archaeological sites, stunning nature, and local culinary traditions. The area of Old Orhei was designated a natural reserve during the Soviet era on 15 March 1968, ensuring the protection and enhancement of the area’s cultural and natural heritage.
