• Trinidad - Trinidad encompasses forty square kilometers of tidal lagoons, marshlands, and mangrove forests along the Gulf of Praia, situated between the Caroni and Madame Espagnole rivers. This area is home to 157 bird species, including the Scarlet ibis, flamingos, Sandpiper, Eurasian whimbrel, Tricoloured munia, Northern waterthrush, Black-crested antshrike, Speckled tanager, Dusky-capped flycatcher, Cocoa thrush, Roseate tern, short-billed dowitcher, Bananaquit, and Great Egret, among others. Additionally, visitors may encounter caimans, snakes, opossums, raccoons, and a variety of fish and insects. Designated as a protected wildlife area in 1953, the region still faces challenges from poaching and industrial waste pollution. Despite these issues, the swamp remains a captivating and tranquil destination, well worth exploring. Please note that while many animals may be observed, sightings are not guaranteed.
