Constructed between 1774 and 1778 for Lady Cecilie Christine Schøller, the widow of chamberlain Stie Tønsberg Schøller, a prosperous wholesaler and trader, she was a notable figure in the city’s social elite. The Baroque-style building boasts over 100 rooms and is the largest wooden palace in Northern Europe.
