• Kecharis Monastery - The Kecharis medieval monastery complex is situated in the northwestern part of Tsaghkadzor city. It is remarkable not only for its unique architecture but also for its fascinating history. Its development spanned 220 years, with a pause of over 150 years due to the historical circumstances of the time. Construction began under the Bagratuni dynasty and was continued by the Pahlavuni dynasty. The first church in the Kecharis monastic complex, St. Gregory the Illuminator, was constructed between 995-1003, followed by other sacred sites. The Kecharis monastery comprises three churches: St. Gregory the Illuminator with a domed hall, St. Nshan, and St. Cathoghike, along with two chapels and a courtyard. Further west, on the path to the forest, lies another church – St. Harutiun. Unlike other Armenian monasteries, Kecharis’ main structures form a straight corner on their own pillars.
• Lake Sevan - The high-altitude Lake Sevan is known as the “pearl of Armenia.” Situated at 1,900 meters above sea level in the heart of the Armenian highland, it is 63 km northeast of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and is the largest lake in the Caucasus. Surrounded by mountain ranges, Sevan offers a breathtaking view of the alpine lake. The lake is renowned for its pristine fresh water, and the pure mountain air is beneficial for health.
• Monastery Sevanavank - The Sevanavank monastery complex is located on the Sevan peninsula. Founded in 305 by St. Gregory the Illuminator, it was built on the site of a former pagan temple. In the 9th century, the princes of Syunik established Sevan as a strategic point. In 874, Mariam, the wife of Prince Vassak of Syunik and daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni, constructed two churches here – St. Arakeloc and St. Astvatcatcin. These churches are adorned with various wood-carved capitals, some of which are preserved in the Armenia State Museum of History and the Art Gallery of St. Petersburg (Hermitage). In 1869, a spiritual school was established within the complex. The remnants of a church with a domed hall are preserved at the top of the island’s mountain. The cloister area is rich in khachkars (cross-stones).
• Action Park Tsaghkadzor - The chairlift ropeway of Tsaghkadzor is located on the eastern slope of Mount Teghenis, at an altitude of 1966-2819 meters above sea level. It has been operational since 1967. From the height of 2819 meters, where the swift chairlift takes you in 32 minutes, all of Armenia can be seen at a glance, and on clear days, the majestic view of Mount Ararat can be enjoyed. In 2004, the old ropeway was replaced with a new, modern one, and significant investments were made in 2017. The ropeway is now well-equipped, ensuring an active and safe experience for tourists.
