Great tour, highly recommend - This was a great tour; the whole family enjoyed it. Would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking about it. It was very well organized, the van arrived exactly on time, there were no high pressure sales or surprises. Our guide, Diana, was amazing - she made us feel very comfortable, gave clear instructions, and gave great commentary on all the sights. Very enjoyable outing!

Fun Experience at Rio Secreto - This was a fun experience. I was not really sure what to expect. Our guide, Anna, was very knowledgeable and help create a memorable experience for this unique tour. The river part was fun. I kept asking Anna if we would see a bat in its natural habitat and she found one. The Tulum tour was so interesting. Anna did a great job explaining the ruins. If going mid-day remember to bring an umbrella or sun hat because there is not much shade and it got toasty.

Must do when in Mexico! - My mom, gramma and I did this tour today. We booked this through our Transat guide at the resort a few days ago when we arrived and we decided to do the "full day" option which had us away from the resort from roughly 8am to 4pm. We were picked up by tour van and taken to Rio Secreto about 15 minutes away.
Upon arrival, you are paired with a guide. We were paired with Taimara and we cannot say enough wonderful things about her! She was so thorough and did a great job explaining the day as well as sharing her knowledge about the cultural history. She was so kind and helpful and went above and beyond. We will never forget her and the amazing day she gave us!
The tour guide is with you for the entire day. We received a wrist band that basically just signed us in and we signed a waiver.
We then loaded onto a different tourist van and drove about 10-15 minutes into the jungle with Taimara explaining everything along the way. We arrived at a central "hub" and we were sized with water shoes and asked to change into bathing suits. When our group was ready, we rinsed in the outdoor showers to remove any sunscreens and lotions that may disrupt the water in the caves.
We were given a locker with a lock and key and we were able to store our bags and personal belongings here for the day. We were given the option of wearing a wet suit. I definitely recommend this, the water is refreshing but on the cooler side.
You will be wearing your bathing suit, an optional wetsuit, a life jacket, a helmet with a flashlight and water shoes.
The journey begins with a quick walk through the jungle to get to the entrance of the cave system. We were blessed before entering the caves and spoke about respecting the Mayan ways.
We began the climb down into the cave system and the overall tour lasted about an hour and a half.
For reference, I am 26 and I did this with my 80 year old gramma who has had a double knee replacement. I won't say she did it with ease, but she completed the tour and enjoyed the history. Once you make the initial decent, you will not see daylight again until the exit. Be prepared to be underground and walking and swimming in water and walking on very uneven terrain. I am 5'10" and the water was never deeper than my chest. I could touch bottom the whole time.
My mom had to exit the course because she is claustrophobic. If you are even slightly concerned about this, I would not enter the cave system. In some areas we had to swim in shallow water or crouch and walk with the roof of the cave barely above our heads.
Upon exit we walked back to the "hub" and were provided a delicious buffet lunch.
After we ate lunch, we changed and got on a big tour bus and Taimara prepared us for our next adventure - the Mayan ruins at Tulum.
Upon our arrival here, Taimara guided us to the ruins and also acted as our tour guide and taught us about the buildings and the people that used to be here.
We were given free time at the end to shop at the souvenir shops or explore Tulum on our own before meeting up at the bus to be dropped off at our resort. When we got back to the bus, Taimara gave us cold water and a snack to tie us over while heading home. It was a great day! Loved the experience.
Be prepared for a lot of walking between both locations. It is very humid in the caves at Rio Secreto but the water is cool. All you need is your bathing suit. The rest of the equipment is provided for you. At Tulum, it is very hot. You are in the direct sun. Taimara gave us an umbrella to help keep cool. Bring a reusable water bottle because you cannot bring anything disposable that may be considered "litter" or "garbage" after you're done.
I loved this experience and would definitely do it again!

Cancun must see activity - Our tour guide Diana and photo guy Gonzo, are super fun, professional and informative. The caves are beautiful, like another world. The classic( or basic) i guess, wasn't too hard or long. Couple hours. They do have more adventurous packages with rappelling and bicycling. But the tour we did is fine for the slightly older or rounder of us. The photos are expensive. One of my favorite activities in the Cancun area.

Overall fantastic - Rio Secreto was amazing, guide fantastic but not allowed to take photos, fabulous photographer joined us BUT each photo was US$30, which is too expensive & I had not budgeted for, so can’t add a photo to this review because I have none! Tulum was hot but amazing, would have been better still if we’d had time to go down to the beach, which apparently is included in the Tulum ticket.

Wonderful experience - My wife and I have a fantastic time touring the cenotes and tulum! Highly recommended to anytime looking to fill an afternoon on vacation. Ask for Imelda! She was the best tour guide! Very knowledgeable and very fun to be around.
We booked through Amstar (the transportation company that we used to get to and from the airport) and it was seamless. We had all the gear we needed and transportation all day.
Wonderful experience start to finish!

Enjoyed the caves and loved Tulum (guide was amazing) - Picked up from our hotel (Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an) in a small van, stopped once at Barcelo on the way. Got to Rio Secreto, were asked if anyone had been before and were sent to stop 10 (which made the driver sigh - I believe we were amonst the furthest away and only went one way and had to walk back as opposed to getting out down river). It was a 22 minute drive from getting dressed in wet suits and life jackets. Then we walked about 10 minutes to enter the cave. The cave was more walking than floating - I had expected to float on a river ... but that was maybe 20 minutes of 70, the rest was walking in some water and over very uneven terrain. Thankfully a man from Winnipeg helped us in and out at certain points. The guide was amazing. Her knowledge and thoughtful planned made the whole trip better.
Lunch was tasty and there was enough. The shredded chicken and fresh tortillas as well as the lemon "cake" were my favourites.
The drivers were very good. The trip to Tulum ruins was wonderful. We did walk in and out (no shuttle), but the guide said it was faster. It is quite hot on site, but they provided us with umbrellas - nice touch. Then we had a little time to shop a bit before we headed back to our hotel (closer to the hotel from Tulum).
Fixing the road to the caves would really help!
