The real Costa Rica - I have had the privilege of volunteering at the Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center in Turrúcares for four years now. Over time, I have fallen in love not only with the animals, but also with the team and all that this human and rewarding experience brings. Being at the centre is a real return to basics: you rediscover simplicity, contact with nature and the importance of living the moment to the full. Each day is unique, punctuated by moments that are sometimes comical, sometimes deeply touching, always filled with meaning. I sincerely recommend that everyone – young and old – take this break, put the daily life on “break” and reconnect with the child himself. And if you don’t have time, a simple visit can already make all the difference. The centre is in great need of any kind of help and offers a rare opportunity to see animals up close and create a unique bond with them. Looking forward to meeting you there!

Amazing place!! - I am incredibly grateful for this rescue center and the work they do. The level of care, compassion, and dedication shown to every animal is truly special. You can feel that this is not just a place that rescues animals, but a place that genuinely loves them. The animals are treated with patience, respect, and deep understanding, especially those who have come from difficult or traumatic situations. The staff and volunteers go above and beyond every single day, often working long hours, to make sure each animal feels safe, healthy, and valued. This rescue is more than a shelter. It is a sanctuary. The impact they have on both the animals and the people who come through here is life changing. I have so much respect for the heart, integrity, and selflessness behind this organization, and I cannot recommend supporting them enough

Excellent place and experience - Excellent place, it is the best and most complete animal rescue center, the treatment of people is very warm and the explanation of each of the animals is very complete, the place the amazing surrounded by many green area. Thanks to all the team that makes up the rescue center and that makes have life together with the animals is excellent.

Volunteering and Tourist Guide - I volunteered and witnessed the excellent treatment they give to the animals in their care. It is a beautiful experience to know the story of some of those rescued and share with Marielus, Deisy, Paula in charge of the site. You should not miss the visit to Cheese and lazy babies🦥.

Nonpareil !.!.! - //ell, where do I begin in regard to my thoughts and insights as to the grandeur and utter allure of the Costa Rican Animal Rescue Center located in the bucolic and serene small town of Turrucares?!? I know—> I’ll start by disclosing the rather pertinent side bar that I write this review as a current and longstanding volunteer at this venerable and paragon of an animal rescue center. That now addressed, allow me to begin this review of the CRARC with its paramount inhabitants—that obviously being in reference to the animals that have been graciously taken in and completely cared for by the selfless and dedicated owners of the establishment ; of whom, greatly exceed and balk at such tired, mundane, and overused adjectives as “cute, interesting, and mesmerizing!” Simply put.., they are a once-in-a-lifetime encounter in which to behold! Or more aptly described, that of course in reference to the copious amount of various and distinguished animals living here at the facility—ranging from the approachable and communicative allotment of parrots, continuing on to the highly curious-in-nature and adaptive marmosets which are thankfully found on the property, and extending to the enchanting and truly captivating sloths that help to most appropriately define everything that IS this outstanding animal rescue center! And although I COULD continue on (and on) with a circuitous and prolonged prose describing every fascinating element and nuance belonging to this esteemed animal rescue center that is most commonly referred to by its acronym, CRARC, I will err on the side of brevity and just leave you with a simple suggestion rather than a Dickens-like dissertation regarding the magnificence that is this rescue center, and that would be, “Just come and see for yourself the wonder and awe that IS the CRARC 👌;” for it truly is a sight to behold!.!.!

Not the best - A real zoo, not a rehabilitation center. Unfortunately, it's poorly managed and lacks specialized staff. They exploit volunteers who pay to go because they have no paid staff or doctors.
