Really informative - We really enjoyed this tour and thought that it gave a good insight into the medieval history of Newcastle - our guide (sorry, I am doing this too long after the walk and forgot to keep a record of the gentleman's name) was really well-informed. He seemed to actually know his stuff and certainly wasn't just following a script and he was able to deal really well with all of our questions. The guiding was both entertaining and informative, which I think is a nice balance for tours of this kind. We certainly saw a lot on the tour that we would have passed by had we not had a guide. All in all we would highly recommend this tour, even if you have also done a more general city tour, we did both and there was very limited overlap.

Great tour on Newcastle history - We had a lovely tour with our guide Thomas and his apprentice on a sunny Newcastle Wednesday. Thomas had tons of stories and insights, always open to our many questions, including ones that deviated from the regular schedule. The tour was interesting and varied, and the castle was a nice round off of the tour. Would definitely recommend!

Learn how Newcastle developed - George was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We talked not only about the interesting medieval history of Newcastle but also about more modern history and current football. This was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. Thanks so much!

The Age of the Renaissance - Step into history at Newcastle Castle—a medieval marvel in the city's heart! Our family adventure in March was pure magic, from the eerie dungeons to the breathtaking views from the Castle Keep. The Black Gate whispers ancient tales, while interactive exhibits bring the past alive. Kids adored the spiral staircases, and the staff’s stories added spark—easy booking, no crowds, and fair prices—perfect for history buffs or curious explorers. Don’t miss this hidden crown jewel!

Beautiful and informative walk - Daniel has given a lot of information, he knew a lot and told in a funny way. There wasn't always time to take pictures because we were walking again. Nice walk that also gives you an immediate sense of direction.

Medieval tour - Very interesting tour, the guide was very interesting and knowledgeable with a degree of fun. We were lucky enough to have an added bonus at St Andrews Church, went inside with a very charismatic chap who rang the bells for us and also told interesting stories.
