- Ubud - This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Unlike many TripAdvisor tours, this is a private experience. You will be picked up from your Ubud hotel at 7am and driven to the Pejeng market to join the locals in shopping for the freshest produce. Putu will introduce you to the seasonal fruits, vegetables and spices on offer and you’ll pick up a few ingredients for your cooking lesson. You will spend about 30 minutes at the market before driving to Putu’s home to start cooking together. The market offers wonderful photo opportunities, so don’t forget to bring your camera! Join Putu in the kitchen for a hands-on cooking lesson. You’ll work together to prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes and as you chop, grind and grill Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes and the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients. Putu’s kitchen is simple, with only a two burner cooktop, and you are sure to be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she can prepare a complex menu with multiple dishes. You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours.

Early in the morning, your host Putu will pick you up and take you to the bustling Pejeng market where local residents do their shopping. Early in the morning, your host Putu will pick you up and take you to the bustling Pejeng market where local residents do their shopping. You’ll be introduced to the different fruits, vegetables, and spices that are in season, picking up a selection for the cooking lesson ahead. The market also offers fantastic opportunities for photography, remember to bring your camera!
Once back at Putu’s home, you’ll assist in the cooking of 2-3 traditional Balinese meals. As you help with the chopping, grinding, and grilling, Putu will explain the different spices used in these venerable family recipes as well as the health benefits of Balinese ingredients. Despite Putu’s kitchen’s simple setup, just a two-burner cooktop, you’ll be amazed at how efficiently and quickly she can whip up a complicated menu with diverse dishes. You may learn to cook dishes such as Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (a spicy chili sauce), or a curry-based dish. After approximately 1-2 hours of cooking, you’ll sit down to savor the delicious meal.

A delightful culinary unforgettable experience - We had an amazing time with Putu at the market and then back to her Village and home. Thank you so much for the informative class Putu. The kids and ourselves truly appreciate all the hard work you and your family have put into providing such a special cultural experience, one we will never forget. The food was delicious! Having a tour through your farm was also a highlight with our son being able to harvest his favourite, a mangosteen.

Perfect Ubud cooking experience - From pick up to drop off, this experience was filled with warmth, charm, culture, great food, hospitality and generosity. Putu's house was amazing and wonderful to taste real Balinese life. It is a cooking lesson, but so much more! The market tour, the walk around her wonderful garden and home as well as the knowledge she shared will be remembered long after we return home. This is an absolute "must do" ! The best thing to do in Bali! - This was the best thing we did while in Bali. We would highly recommend doing the market tour and cooking class together as gives you a wonderful insight to local culture. We also got to enjoy a delish market breakfast! The home and garden tour was incredible as we learnt more about village life and how they nurture the land and grow their own food! Having a private class was great as it gave us the opportunity to learn every step of the cooking process and ask many questions. And ofcourse the food was incredible. Thank you so much to Putu and her family for sharing their home and culture with us.

A food school, village and paradise - Putu has been both a wonderful host and friend. She was warm and friendly. At the market, she gave a very good rundown of the ingredients and the culture behind the food. At her food, she was gracious in the sharing and was very generous with guiding through the culinary steps.
Our 5yo boy absolutely loved the experience, chasing chickens, ducks and dogs at her backyard.
The food was amazing, and our having cooked it made all the more sumptuous! Highly recommended.

A wonderful glimpse into Balinese culture - On our last day in Ubud, we had the joy of booking this experience and it truly became the highlight of our time in Bali. Putu and family welcomed us with warmth and kindness, opening their home to us.
She guided us through the process with such patience, especially with our teens, making the entire experience feel both fun and meaningful. Every dish was prepared with the freshest ingredients, and the flavors were simply delicious.
This wasn’t just a cooking class; it was a glimpse into Balinese culture, hospitality, and heart. We left not only with full stomachs, but with full hearts, and memories we will treasure forever.
If you’ve never tried something like this, I can’t recommend it enough. We can’t wait to recreate these dishes back home and be reminded of this special day. Thank you again, Putu, for opening your home and sharing your world with us.

A Culinary Masterclass. Beautiful People. Beautiful Home. - A heartwarming dive into Bali’s vibrant colours, scents, and flavours in the beautiful, inspiring home and organic garden of a lovely rice farming family just outside of Ubud.
Our day began at the bustling market in Pejeng where we met the wonderful Putu to explore local produce and traditions and taste local cakes and fruits.
Putu makes an excellent host - kind, patient, eloquent, knowledgeable, particularly good with children.
Next we headed to Putu’s peaceful, warm and welcoming home and kitchen for a blissful day of cooking. We learnt so much from Putu as we chopped, ground and grilled. The kitchen buzzed with laughter and steam, with chickens roaming around Putu’s impressive garden.
Needless to say, our feast was absolutely delicious. This was one of our favourite experiences in Bali.

Perfect Putu - Putu was so welcoming into her home - prior to the class she gave us an explanation of Bali houses and designs, where the ingredients are grown and how they live. The class was in English and easily understandable. Food was so tasty & entire experience was amazing. Strongly recommend this!

Amazing and fun solo cooking experience - Everything was lovely, the private cooking lesson was an awesome experience! Learned a lot through talking about the Balinese experience. The campus is beautiful, the engagement was pleasant and I felt comfortable throughout!

Awesome Way to Spend A Day in Bali - We had the most amazing time with Putu exploring a local market and then joining her in her home to cook an amazing meal! We were picked up at our hotel and toured a local market that was off the beaten path, learning much about local fruits and veggies. But the highlight was the delicious 5 entree meal that we made with Putu. The outdoor kitchen and friendly tutelage were great, and we really appreciated that most of the ingredients came from her own gardens. No previous kitchen skill required, but everything tasted like it was made by a chef, and the recipes were all things that you could make at home.

Authentic Market tour & Private Cooking - We had a fantastic time with Putu today. She gave us a wonderful tour of her local market and explained all the ingredients and things on offer. We were able to ask lots of questions and Putu was so knowledgeable.
Her home is gorgeous, she explained all about the different aspects of Balinese life and culture.
The cooking class was so hands on. I do plenty of Asian cooking at home but even I learnt several new things to take back with me to improve my skills.
I would highly highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic cooking class and/or market tour to join with Putu!
