Two of Sri Lanka’s most picturesque mountain roads are located between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya: the A5, which traverses the tea region of Nuwara Eliya, and the A7, which passes through Hatton and crosses Sri Lanka’s largest tea region, Dimbula. This sightseeing day-trip encompasses both routes, offering a glimpse into the heart of the island’s central highlands. Beginning at 800 meters above sea level, the journey ascends to an altitude of 2031 meters at Top Pass, with half of the tour spent above 1800 meters, an ideal altitude for tea cultivation. Throughout the day, travelers can admire the highland vistas and the vibrant green of tea plantations extending to the horizon. The itinerary includes stops at several waterfalls, a spice garden, a tea factory, a half-hour hike through tea bushes at a scenic location, and a brief city tour in “Little England.”
