Kibale National Park - Begin your Chimpanzee Trekking Safari by departing from Kampala or Entebbe at 7:00 am. This adventure is primarily a vehicle journey, taking approximately 5 hours through the picturesque landscapes of Uganda.

Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary - Enjoy an afternoon guided walk in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, offering a unique jungle swamp experience. The trail mostly consists of walkways made of wooden planks, allowing you to walk above the marsh. Light hiking boots are recommended for most participants. This three-hour walk is perfect for bird enthusiasts and those seeking an extraordinary experience in a jungle swamp. It is also ideal for those who appreciate monkeys and primates, some of which are found elsewhere.
The sanctuary is home to primates such as Red Colobus Monkeys, Gray Cheeked Mangabey, L’Hoest Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Baboons, Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, and occasionally Chimpanzees. Additionally, Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary hosts various mammals, including the rare and elusive semi-aquatic Sitatunga Antelopes, which have webbed toes. Other mammals include Bush Pigs, Bush Bucks, Otters, and Mongooses. Over 138 bird species have been observed here, including the Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonoleks, and Hornbills.
Chimpanzee Tracking and Top of World Hike
Kibale National Park - After breakfast, embark on your Chimpanzee Trek. For comfort, it is recommended to wear long trousers, such as jeans, long-sleeved shirts, light hiking boots, and carry a day pack with a liter of bottled water and a wide-brimmed hat. A light rain jacket is also advisable.
Chimpanzee tracking lasts about 3 hours, with 1 hour spent up close with them. Kibale Forest is renowned as the best location in East Africa for chimpanzee tracking. It is where the West African jungles meet East Africa, home to 13 species of primates. Typically, you will encounter about 5 or 6 species while tracking the chimpanzees.
In addition to the chimpanzees, the rainforest itself is remarkable, with other primates, trees, flowers, a variety of birds, the sounds of the rainforest, and butterflies fluttering through the air. The chimpanzees captivate your attention, making you grateful for visiting Kibale Forest for Chimpanzee Tracking.
Kibale National Park - Top of World Hike
After lunch, embark on the top of the world nature walk, a hike that traverses villages, tea plantations, and crater lakes to a viewpoint offering views of crater lakes, the Rwenzori Mountains of the moon, communities, and in the distance, Queen Elizabeth Park. It is advisable to carry a daypack with a liter of water, a few granola bars, and wear light hiking boots during this hike.
Return to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Return to Kampala or Entebbe
Kampala - Head back to Kampala/Entebbe with a lunch break along the way. Arrive in the afternoon.
