The Experience of a Lifetime - A once-in-a-lifetime experience trekking mountain gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Coming face-to-face with these creatures in their natural habitat is both humbling and awe-inspiring. The dense jungle, misty hills, and the quiet intensity of the trek only heightened the moment of encounter. With nearly half the world’s gorilla population residing here, every step felt meaningful. Our driver Ronald was outstanding—knowledgeable, reliable, and genuinely passionate—making the entire journey smooth and unforgettable. A must-do for any wildlife enthusiast or even for those like us who are not as outdoorsy.

3 day Uganda Gorilla Tracking and Volcanoes Golden Monkey trek - The entire tour was incredible from start to finish. Very well organized by Fred and perfectly executed with Ronnie, my tour guide and driver. Ronnie was very knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. It was such a pleasure driving through the amazingly beautiful landscape of Uganda and Rwanda with him explaining the lifestyle, culture and history of the region. My stay at the Rushaga lodge in Uganda and the Migano hotel in Rwanda was excellent. The highlight of the entire tour was the Gorilla trekking itself in Bwindi Impenetrable forest - the proximity and interactions with the gorillas and the hike through the forest itself were so exhilarating - excellently arranged by the guides and rangers in Bwindi forest. The Volcanoes Golden Monkey trek was ok. I was comfortably taken to catch my flight out of Kigali airport on time. As a solo female traveller, at all times I felt incredibly safe and comfortable throughout this tour - I would certainly recommend this tour, Ronnie the tour guide and Frena adventures for a well worthwhile and wonderful trip!

Amazing - From the moment I was picked up in Kigali I felt safe and taken care of. In addition to the gorilla tracking I was able to visit several attractions in Rwanda and Uganda. I was traveling solo so my driver/guide Farouk tailored my trip based on my interest. He was always timely and helpful and polite and a safe driver. My gorilla tracking adventure was amazing. I was lucky enough to find a gorilla family after only an hour! This was the experience of a lifetime. I definitely recommend this experience..

Great and efficient gorilla trekking - This tour was exactly what we were looking for!
We wanted an efficient and smooth trip to see the gorillas up close, so we flew into Kigali (Rwanda) enabling us to see this amazing (and safe) country. However, Gorilla trekking in Uganda is both cheaper (~50% of permits in Rwanda) and offer multiple different opportunities to be sure you see them, but that does not mean you need to fly in and out of Uganda. Highly recommend flying to Kigali and driving the 2-3 hours across the border.
Frena Adventures delivered on all metrics; airport pickup/drop off. Nice driving in a decent car, nice lodges with good food (catering for gluten intolerant meals).
Our guide, Roland, made the many hours in the car feel safe and enjoyable. Thank you for everything - highly recommended for other tourists interested in Gorilla trekking!

Amazing experience - We had a fantastic time in Uganda with our driver Ronnie, the gorilla trekking in Bwindi was just incredible, it was a real adventure and seeing the gorillas was such an touching experience. We then visited Kalinzu and saw chimps, colobus and blue and red tail monkeys, the forest is really beautiful. Finally we visited the Queen Elisabeth NP, and we saw so many animals, lions included!
Ronnie and Frenadventure were very honest and serious, I have no complains and I'm glad we chose it.
Overall I was really happy with the tour, and highly recommend it to anyone!

Rockstar Ronald! - Ronald, my driver was a Rockstar! From the moment he picked me up from my hotel, he was at my disposal for itinerary, visas between countries and delivery to and from Kigali.
Ronald explained to me every detail of my trek imaginable during our journey to the Bwindi Forest. His selection of restaurants and food were over the top and his ability to modify on point.
If I may:
Take small bills and five to ten bags of treats to distribute to the wonderful children you may encounter in the forest. The visit to the Pygmie Village was not expected, yet well received.
Bring USD as it seems to be preferred in Uganda and you will need it for your visa(s).
If you have Ronald as your guide, my opinion, you’re in Good Hands!

Gorilla trekking - We flew from Nairobi to Rwanda and drove across to Uganda which was scenic and beautiful. We really enjoyed the whole experience, we were well-looked after and everything went smoothly with the transit across Rwanda and passing into Uganda. Our driver was attentive and followed the itinerary as planned. Do make sure you take plenty of Ugandan shillings (UGX) for all the tipping you are expected to do and if you want to buy drinks at the hotels (our hotels said they didn’t take cards!). As we were coming from living in Nairobi, we had thought we could withdraw UGX from the Kigali airport ATM (as one guide book had said) but alas no, so we ended up borrowing shillings from our guide which was awkward and wouldn’t have been necessary if we had been able to stop at one of the Ugandan ATMs en route. The trekking itself was excellent and the guides/trackers very professional. Do take a face mask which is required when you approach the gorillas, and some lightweight gloves for protection as the bushes are thorny in the forest, although you can buy these for a couple of dollars each at the starting point. We got extremely close to a whole troop and will take away memories to cherish. Thank you!
