Best experience of a life time. - This expedition was fantastic! I can not say anyhing better than my co trekkers Beth, John and Don! See their reviews. The best part of the trip was having Tusker owner Eddie Frank along with us. He has created a once in a life time adventure that can not be improved upon. Dont miss this.

Indescribable Trip!! - From the moment I landed in Ulaanbaatar to when I left, I was warmly embraced by this amazing country and fully supported. We were treated to authentic cultural experiences by going to visit an eagle hunter and his family, visited a family who showed us how they make thread and embroider items as well as how to make felt that becomes panels and rugs. We also met with a Shaman and I had my spirit read by her. Tusker handles all the logistics. The trip through the Altai Tavern Mountain region is spectacular! Each successive camp is more beautiful than the last. The saddles are super stable and very comfortable. The horses were assigned somewhat based on your riding capability. My horse was perfect for me as I asked for a more spirited horse! Another patron simply wanted to sit on the horse and take picture so his horse was way more muted. What's neat is if one of you wants to ride and another wants to trek, you can still do this trip together. Everyone is given a horse so if you trek and then decide to ride, your horse is available. Camels moved our camp and the locals set it up and broke it down each day. Therefore, you simply had to be packed and out of your tent in the morning. When you arrived at camp, your bag was already in your tent. Tents are spacious and secure against wind. Food was amazing. Alex is flown in from Tanzania as he usually is a cook for Mt Kilimanjaro hikes. His food is tasty & nutritious with plenty variety to satisfy all palates. This is not just a trip to Mongolia, it's an immersion into a country full of beauty in both its people and land, as well as rich in history. There is plenty of oppruntiy to experience it all! I highly recommend booking this trip, even is you go solo.

Mongolia trek - Tusker provided the best experience. I can not find one item that I was disappointed. Attention to detail was phenomenal. I would highly recommend Tusker to anyone who wants to visit Mongolia, Kilimanjaro or Patagonia. I travel extensively, and I have found the Tusker organization to be top-notch.

The Trip of a Lifetime! - This Tusker Mongolia trekking/ horseback adventure is the best trip I have ever taken. Having been in 2022, 2024 and 2025, as well as, being an extensive traveler, I can speak with authority. Eddie Frank, who has been organizing adventure travel for decades, has put together an amazing trip. His attention to detail results in an incredible experience. The extraordinary landscape views and the horseback/ trekking are both quite diverse. I came home each year invigorated mentally and physically. While I am a fit 78 year old, this trip will appeal to adults of any age or horseback experience. I plan to go again in 2027. As I edit my photos and videos, I find myself wishing I was still on the trip and marveling at the beauty and vowing to go again.

A whole new set of experiences enjoyed both on foot and on horeseback through this vast beautiful landscape. - This is the fourth trekking experience we have enjoyed with Tusker, (Kili, EBC and Patagonia being the others) and the first to be led by Eddie himself. Our first outing was Kilimanjaro and it was there that we experienced the intense attention to detail that ensures the trekker's safety and maximises their enjoyment and experience that they have. Mongolia was no different. Eddie and his team had every eventuality covered and we have now both collected another bundle of outanding memories. Make no mistake, the enviroments that you encouter with Tiusker adventures are out of the ordinary and challengeing, which is why we seek them out, but there is something diferent about Tusker. They are the very epitome of professionalism, zero compromise on the safety of the people in their charge without compromising their enjoyment and experience. I would unreservedly recommend this company to whoever posess that inate sense of adventure and who seek out those wild and wonderful landscapes that so many others shy away from. Many thanks Eddie for another wonderful trip!!

Once in Lifetime Experience- if you like Adventure this is a Must-Do, and especially with Tusker Trails! - I did the Mongolia Trek the 1st 2 weeks of July 2023 with 4 other friends and have to say this was an experience almost beyond words. I have had the fortunate of being on two other Tusker Treks previously, Kilimanjaro and Patagonia, that were equally amazing. It was on the Patagonia trip where I was able to connect with another Tusker Trekker who had been to Mongolia and said, "if you ever get the chance to do that trip, you absolutely must do it. There is no other trip like it!" And he was right! Tusker trips are always phenomenally well-run with absolutely terrific guides, great equipment, fantastic food, and itineraries that are challenging yet accessible and always focused on client safety. The people that serve as guides and support the trek are some of the most friendly, generous, and kind folks that I have ever met, and by the end of the trip they are your friends. An interesting aspect of this trip is the opportunity to almost cover the entire distance on horseback, and even if you are not coming into the trip with much horse-riding experience, by the end of the trip you will be amazed and how much you have learned in a short-period of time. The scenery is fantastic, likely the most unspoiled place that I have ever been, and you keep being awed knowing that you are in one of the most remote places you can travel to. If all of that isn't enough, oh by way, the owner of Tusker Trails Eddie Frank personally leads this trip! If you want adventure stories, he's got 'em. And he goes above and beyond to learn the unique interests of the group that he is leading and finds creative and meaningful ways to make the trip extra special. This is the longest trip review I have ever written, I could go on and on, though hopefully this is enough to demonstrate how meaningful and amazing the Tusker Trails Mongolia Nomad Trip really is!

The best adventure trip ever! - I recently sent this unsolicited email to Eddie Frank the CEO of Tusker and the actual leader of a fabulous adventure in Mongolia the summer of 2022. He suggested I post this review of the trip. Hi Eddie, I hope life is treating you well! I recently returned from a 3 week great trip to Rapa Nui, the Atacama desert, and Bolivia. While there, I found myself reminiscing about my Mongolian adventure with Tusker in 2022. And I realized that I often compare whatever I am experiencing on my travels with my trip to Mongolia. And Mongolia always wins. It was my best trip ever and I am an extensive lifelong traveler. I want to thank you again! John

Amazing Mongolia Adventure - Like my previous three adventures with Tusker Trail, this Mongolia Trek is another memorable one.  This one started with an unexpected challenge.  After overnighting in Ulgii, we were supposed to drive to the first campsite to meet up with Eddie and the crew.  Unfortunately a chunk of ice broke the bridge that connects Ulgii to the campsite. The logistics of dismantling the camp site, getting all the supplies, herds of horses and camels to a new camp site and plan out a new route were no easy task.  Kudos to Eddie’s experience and ingenuity, he and his crew had everything in place and the group met up with them the next day to start the amazing journey. The journey through the Altai Mountains was filled with beautiful scenery, and we got to experience traditional Mongolian culture by visiting an eagle-hunter family and a family living in a traditional Ger. Thanks to riding lessons from Eddie and a horseman leading my horse, I got to experience horseback riding in Mongolia. With safety and well-being a top priority for the crew and trekkers, knowledge and experience to deal with unexpected challenges and well planned out itineraries, I look forward to the next adventure with Tusker.

Go to Mongolia with Tusker - You will forever be happy you did! - Mongolia with Eddie is not simply a trek, or a ride on horseback: it is an immersion. After decades of milk tea and kindnesses you are supported by Tusker and Kazakh together, like family. They invite you in under unbelievably blue skies. You’ll see that it’s not ownership but land stewardship that helps the magical to exist around the nomads in Mongolia. For me, it was an honor to share this most beautiful expansive land with the most beautiful creatures. And maybe at the end of your journey, you’ll feel like I did, never more free.
