• Alaska - The whale watching journey begins with transportation picking guests up just outside the Icy Strait Point gates. The route takes travelers along Shaman Point to the charter boat. During the drive, it’s common to spot local Alaskan wildlife such as Brown Bears, blacktail deer, puffins, swans, coastal ducks, geese, and bald eagles.

Once aboard the small charter, the waters reveal more wonders including orcas, sea otters, sea lions, porpoises, and seals, alongside the feeding humpbacks.

• Hoonah - The nutrient-rich waters of Glacier Bay draw humpback whales to Hoonah/Icy Strait in large numbers to feed. They arrive every summer starting in May and migrate south again in September for the winter.

Humpback whales are large baleen whales that can grow over 50 feet long and weigh between 30-50 tons. These whales are incredibly active, and typical sightings include diving, blows, and flukes (tails).

Witnessing humpbacks engage in bubble-net feeding is a true delight and an exhilarating experience.

The charter boat is designed for speed and comfort, making it ideal for navigating Alaska’s waterways. Guests will remain warm and dry with viewing decks and heated cabins as they enjoy the wonder and beauty of the whale watching trip. The tour concludes with a return to the docks, ensuring ample time to board the ship or explore downtown Hoonah.
