Awesome experience - We stayed at the RIU palace in Guanacaste, our tour guide Luis was awesome. It was 14 of us in a big group. We arrived there and some of us went on the hanging bridges and some to the zip lines, we continued with a Buffett which was delicious then we went horseback riding through the forest. We finished off at the spa which was relaxing before heading back to our hotel. We had a blast to say the least. I would recommend Luis as a tour guide since he knows of all the spots and has his hookups. We only payed $120 each with him. You can reach him on WhatsApp and he will respond. +506 8439 0024.

Awesome day out - Great day out made by our awesome host for the day Walter.
After being picked up from our hotel our host Walter gave us a quick update on recent Costa Rican history which was really interesting.
Upon arrival at site we undertook the horse riding activity which was fun as a complete novice.
Then we went for a cultural tour where we learnt about traditional foods and industries, and a local villager demonstrated how they make artefacts. Next was ziplining or hanging bridges, having just done some zip lines elsewhere we went on the hanging bridges which was fun.
Next was a traditional Costa Rican lunch which was delicious.
The afternoon session started with the jungle water slide which was amazing fun.
A few of us then went for a quick hike to see a hidden waterfall which was a highlight.
Last activity was sauna and mud baths and hot pool to allow us all to relax and set off in the journey home.
Thanks Walter for a great day, would highly recommend

great day, unmissable - a superb day for our group of almost 50 people, we did horseback riding for 1/2 hour, a very nice ride, we were almost all novices but the horses were very well trained and following calmly the group, we felt safe, then we did the 7 Ziplines, really a must, at 88m high, zip lines over 400 meters long, very impressive, then, we enjoyed the slide in the forest, sensational, after a rather decent lunch and a visit to "la fonda" traditional experience, we did the mud and thermal bath, and finally we were at the waterfall, the final bouquet; a great day in a natural and magical setting.

A fun day out - We booked this excursion through the TUI app. It was very well organized as a coach picked us up from our hotel at 07:30. We had a tour guide and a driver. The tour guide stayed with us the whole day.
Something to be aware of- it says the excursion lasts approximately 8 hours which it does but it takes 2 hours by coach to get to the activity centre. (We stayed at RUI Palace but travel time is about the same from most hotels as the activity centre is very remote) This means that once you minus travel time, lunch and an unexpected talk about sugar and pot making which wasn't listed on the itinerary, you're left with about 3 hours of activity time.
We started with the zipline. We were given our equipment and shown how to use it. You're given a pair of gloves with a big piece of leather that you use to slow your speed. The trek up to the first zipline took about 10 minutes. Uphill in the heat- I struggled but made it. The zip line was amazing. You do 7 in total. To be aware of- as soon as you finish one zipline you have to walk up another short hill to the next ziplines. It's very fast moving...a little rushed as they're trying to get you through as quickly as possible. They take photos of you on the 5th zipline. If you choose not to zipline you can back out at any time and walk over the hanging bridges instead.
We then did horse riding. The horses looked well kept and there were a lot of them so I doubt the same horses were being used for rides all day. The trip was very hilly...I felt sorry for my horse having to go up such steep hills! Going down was a bit scary in parts. Lasted 35 minutes. You can also choose to sit this out if you like.
We then did the waterslide. You walk up the same trek as the zipline so I decided to sit it out as I was exhausted. The waterslide looked fun, my husband said it went very fast and was a bit uncomfortable as it is concrete. Girls were being given leather 'nappies' to wear to stop their skin from being scratched. They also provide towels.
Lunch was good- a buffet of local food like beans, rice, chicken and beef with a glass of juice. There was a payable bar too. We brought photos of our activities ($25 for 2 activities or $30 for 3)
We then took a tractor ride to the thermal spa which was beautiful. We just wish someone had told us to bring cash as the bar only accepted cash and not even bottled water was complimentary. The pools are lovely and warm with beautiful views. There is only one sign saying don't put your head under the water to prevent amebic meningitis which a lot of people missed - so be aware of that!
All in all, a fun day out but absolutely exhausting!
Top Tips:
1. Bring zip pockets to store your camera/phone for the zipline.
2. Bring water shorts for the slide.
3. Bring cash

Broken teeth and maxilla for one stitches for the other - I would not touch that water slide again/ We had planned a beautiful trip filled with adventure, sisterhood, and celebration, but our experience at this location took a terrifying turn that I feel compelled to warn others about.
Earlier in the day, we had an unforgettable time horseback riding and zip lining, and everything seemed perfect. But our visit to the water slide ended in a horrific accident. My sister went down first and suffered severe injuries, including a broken maxilla and multiple broken teeth requiring surgery. I went down immediately after, with no warning of the danger ahead, and was violently flipped, suffering a deep gash on my eyebrow that required stitches. It was a terrifying moment — I was screaming and praying for my life, and the fear I felt is something I still carry.
We had to race through the jungle to get medical care, and I can’t express enough how grateful we were for the paramedic who never left our side and our travel guides who stayed calm and supportive through the entire ordeal.
What makes this even more chilling is that earlier that day, an iguana blocked a bridge and repeatedly hissed at us, refusing to move. In hindsight, this felt like a warning a moment of nature trying to signal danger that we ignored.
We are sharing this not to ruin anyone’s trip, but to urge extreme caution. While there were moments of fun and beauty, the water slide is incredibly dangerous and left both of us severely injured. Please be aware, take safety seriously, and understand that what seems like a simple thrill can have devastating consequences.
