The best way to trek the Inka Trail - My partner booked our trek to Machu Picchu with Action Peru Treks, mainly because they were a Peruvian company and had good feedback. We found the actual trek hugely exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Ali Mesias Huaman Gutierrez went above and beyond to ensure that we had a perfect experience, and explained all of the Inka sites along the trail as well as Machu Picchu. The porters were amazing carrying our belongings and the whole camp across the mountains and setting up before we arrived. The Chef provided us with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks that would not be out of place in a top class restaurant.

Amazing Inca Trail Experience with Action Perú Treks - We just did a private 5 day Premium Inca Trail tour with Action Perú Treks and it was the most amazing and challenging thing we've ever done! Our support team was absolutely outstanding, from our guide Ali, to our team of porters, everyone could not be more welcoming and encouraging. Our head chef Andres really worked his magic on this trek and made us plate after plate of delicious food for the 4 days of trek. Big shoutout to our guide Ali who not only gave us some really great history lessons during the four days and also was most encouraging the whole way. Highly recommend Action Perù Treks if you want a great experience on the Inca Trail.

Phenomenal experience from start to finish - To date, this is the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life! Truly it is. From our initial inquiries with Roxner, owner of Action Peru Treks, to getting our hike scheduled, and then the hike itself, everything went beautifully. Action Peru Treks is the only local company offering these excursions. All the other companies are foreign owned, some in the United States. APT takes great care of their porters, and it shows by the smiles on their faces and their friendly attitudes. Super, super great gentlemen! We began our hike on April 2, 2025, which is the end of the rainy season, though we did experience a couple days of rain, mostly in the mornings, trickling off by late morning/early afternoon. Lino was our guide, and he is super knowledgeable about the Inca Trail, all the ruins along the way, including Machu Picchu itself. Lino is super passionate about sharing information, often times raising his voice and extending his arms when speaking. He has completed this hike over 700 times, and knows the trail intimately, often times letting us know what to was coming up so we could mentally prepare ourselves. He is also great with the timing, letting us know when we would arrive at our next rest area, or campsite for the night. The porters… These gentlemen are the backbone of this operation. They carried all of the equipment needed for eating, cooking, and camping, except for sleeping bags. They provided Thermarest sleeping pads, which were super comfortable, and four-person tents for each two-persons. They took care of setting up and breaking down the tents, so us hikers could fully enjoy the experience without all the work (though I was happy to help out when I could). We had nine porters, each carrying up to 58 pounds of equipment/food, etc. These guys are work horses, hiking the trail with ease, not using any assistance, such as poles either. A lot of the terrain seems a bit sketchy to hike on, though the porters are surefooted, sometimes even running up or down steps, which scared the crap out of me. Most of the rest stops included, locals selling food/beverages in case you needed a refreshment. Most also had bathrooms with flushable toilets and running water that could be used for one Sol ($0.27USD). One stop had a great assortment of beverages, including bottles of Jack Daniels and Jagermeister. Yes, you read that right. The food… Simply amazing! The food we enjoyed with rival that served at a very nice restaurant. No simple camping meals at all, everything was gourmet. To think that these meals were prepared with simple cooking equipment on a propane stove is absolutely incredible. I would have bet that they were sneaking away to a commercial kitchen to prepare our food, but I witnessed it myself each evening as they slaved away in the kitchen tent. Our last night we enjoyed a homemade cake signaling our success on the IncaTrail. How do you make a beautiful and delicious cake in a cooking pot over a propane stove? I have no idea. We said goodbye to our porters on the last night, finishing the hike with our guide the following morning. Upon arriving at Machu Picchu, we learned that our trail guide would also become our guide for Machu Picchu. Again, Lino did not disappoint. He explained beautifully key points about Machu Picchu. Again, his knowledge is incredible. I met so many people from different countries along the trail. It is such a cool experience to share this moment with others. Though we are all from different countries, we all share the same passion of being outdoors, exploring history. I can't say enough, good things about this experience. Again, our guide, and especially the porters, or key to this being such an enjoyable experience. I took over 800 photos during the course of four days, which is an indication that I really enjoyed this experience so much that I wanted to capture every possible bit of it. While this was a once in a lifetime experience for me, I do hope to repeat it in the next few years or so. I could see myself doing this every year, but time and money are of course a factor. Make sure to check out Action Peru Treks. They are the go to company for any adventure in Peru.

100% recommendation - All through fantastic experience. After walking the classic Inca trail (4D/3N) with Action Peru Treks, we agreed that seriously there was nothing to put a finger on. The team made every tent camp a home, the chefs spelled out the most tasty, versatile and nutritious food at each meal. After two weeks in Peru, we haven’t found any better food than what the chefs made for us in the mountains. And then there is Lino!! His enthusiasm infected us: we became Inca, bird, plant, etc. His knowledge is enormous, and he was constantly aware of both us and the environment. It is also worth mentioning that the company is one of the few completely local companies that arrange this tour. This means that both chefs and carriers come from the area and that the company actively makes a difference for the employees’ families and small local communities in the area around Cusco. We can only recommend Action Peru Treks. It is unbelievable nature experiences, saturated stomachs, safe sleep, new knowledge - pure happiness!!!!

Best machupicchu trek company - We had an amazing Inca trek with Action Peru. They were so well organised, every aspect of the trip was way above our expectations. The sherpas were just amazing, they looked after our every need. The food was magnificent. I cannot fathom how the chef managed to produce such high quality meals when everything had to be carried to the site. Our guide Nilton was so informative and his knowledge and enthusiasm was entirely infectious. The high point for us was the visit to Machu Picchu, Nilton took us through the entire history of the site. It was fascinating. I highly recommend this company. The fact that they are a local company means that the money they earn stays in Peru, and the company itself makes sure that they share this revenue with the local communities.

Unforgettable Machu Picchu Adventure with Action Peru Treks - Unforgettable Machu Picchu Adventure with Action Peru Treks Our experience with Action Peru Treks was nothing short of epic! From the moment we started, it was clear this company is dedicated to delivering an exceptional journey. A special thanks to our incredible guide, Lino, who went above and beyond to make this trip one to remember. His patience, kindness, and knowledge of Inca history was unmatched, and his storytelling truly brought the ancient sites to life. He made every step of the adventure both fun and educational. The food was another highlight—fresh, diverse, and delicious! It’s amazing how the team managed to prepare such gourmet-quality dishes on the trail. Every meal felt like a celebration, fueling us perfectly for the journey ahead. We also have to recognize the legendary porters who carried heavy loads with unmatched grace and dedication. Their effort and teamwork were inspiring—they truly made the trek possible for everyone. Their warmth and encouragement were just as important as their hard work. They even applauded us upon arrival at each camp! If you’re considering a trip to Machu Picchu, don’t think twice—choose Action Peru Trecks. With their organization, the amazing meals, Lino’s guidance, and the superhuman porters, this was an adventure we’ll never forget! It’s also one of the only companies that supports the locals - I even donated a few bits and pieces to the local kindergarten they work with.

Unforgettable 5-day Inca Trail Adventure - My family of 4 (51,50,19,17 years old) had an adventure of a lifetime hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Action Peru Treks. We choose the Premium 5D/4N Inca Trail so we could take more time on the trail, avoid the crowds, see Machu Picchu in the late afternoon as well as the early morning, and climb Huayna Picchu (the mountain overlooking Machu Picchu). The trail was challenging, with constant up and downs and more steps that you can imagine, but it was majestic and unforgettable. I definitely recommend trekking poles and boots / trail runners with plenty of traction. We were so lucky to have Lino as our guide. He was animated, extremely knowledgeable, and an amazing mountaineer and photographer. He knew all the tricks to make our trip as seamless and fun as possible. He mesmerized the kids with Incan stories and was there to coach us through the difficult parts of the trail. I can’t thank him enough for supporting me through the Huayna Picchu ascent with my bad knees.... the bird’s eye view of Machu Picchu was spectacular! We were also supported by a delightful and hardworking crew of porters who were masters of the mountain. Not only did they carry all the supplies and our personal items, but they provided us with hot water to wash up after the days hike, delivered hot coca tea to our tent in the morning, taught us some Quechua, and made sure we had everything we needed. Our chef was amazing! Trained in a culinary institute in Cuzco, he cooked better Peruvian food than the restaurants in Cuzco, and always with a gluten free alternative for me. The drivers and the central coordination of the trip from Roxner was flawless. Peru Action Treks prides itself on the ethical treatment of its staff and its work supporting the local communities through education and locally sourced food. This is reflected in the happy and hard-working attitudes of the entire staff. I was amazed by the amount of effort and coordination it took to put together a trip like this, and Action Peru Treks did an amazing job!

Highly recommend! - An AMAZING trip! I highly recommend this company. Our group was small and personal, the meals were incredible and delicious, our guide (Odon) was lovely, knowledgeable, and personalized our trip, and our camping spots were highly coveted. I believe they’re more ethical than other companies as well. It was absolutely worth it and I had a great experience!
