On a nice day, doesn't get any better. - On a cruise to Alaska, we generally had the all too common lousy rainy weather that all the guides say is so great rain forest on and on. OK for them because they are already there on the few nice days but a pain when you are only there for one day at each place. That being said, one of the few nice days we had, we did this tour which was fabulous. The little plane has all window seats and the views of glaciers and waterways are exceptional. The Taku Lodge is something of a historical place with involvement of a lady that did a dog sled 1000 miles.... The grounds are beautiful, the views from the front lawn look right across the pretty greenish river to a glacier. And the "feast": to be honest I was not expecting much for a "tourist trap" kind of place but in fact the food was excellent: alderwood smoked salmon, delicious beans and a couple salads. I was totally (and unexpectedly) satisfied! Nice gift shop "Beary Patch". Only negative was swarming mosquitos, another "par for the course" on a nice day in Alaska. But the Lodge provided plenty of insect repellant that worked for me. All in all, an incredibly pleasant experience.

A highlight of our trip to Alaska - This three-hour tour was a highlight of our 3-plus week trip to Alaska. It was recommended to us by Lois at the city museum. It starts with a 25-minute floatplane ride over five glaciers and then you land for a two-hour visit to Taku Lodge, a remote 100-year old lodge located in the midst of the glaciers. The lodge location is spectacular and the staff serves a very filling lunch with wood grilled salmon, baked beans, house made sour dough bread and herb biscuits, baked apples, and more. We had the most delicious molasses cookies for dessert. The meal is served with ice tea and lemonade and beer and wine are available for a price, which was reasonable. After the meal, a guide takes you on a short nature walk on the property, maybe a half mile. He points out a lot of the plants and also gives some history of the lodge. We were lucky to have a beautiful day—65 degrees and sunny—and that certainly enhanced our experience. This is expensive—$475 for adults—but it was well worth it. I think there were 10 people on our plane and then about 40 or 50 people at the lodge feast.

Taku lodge is a blast! - Loved the tacky lodge excursion. The flight in the seaplane was awesome with great glacier views. The taku lodge was very welcoming with nice hiking and the best meal we had during our cruise. Fresh salmon on a smoky wood fire with excellent home cooked sides and the best homemade scones I've had in years. Great history and great hosts. Highest recommendation!

Taku lodge was fun, too. From salmon bake to hiking, history of the place. It was really an amazing day. It is very different from any other experience.

Best day ever! Happy Birthday to me! - I had the most amazing experience today doing the Taku Lodge & 5 Glacier Seaplane excursion!! The pilot, Bruce was his name I think? (Very handsome silver fox😆) He allowed me to sit up front and be copilot on the way back and WOW 😍 This was for my birthday, so I’d say it was the ultimate experience!! I’ve never seen such beauty and from so high up!! I learned so much about the glaciers and the history of the Taku Lodge. Went on a beautiful nature walk to the waterfall on the island, and also had the most amazing meal with smoke salmon and chicken. There was no better excursion in my eyes!

Amazing trip! - Hands down, this was the best cruise excursion we ever took (booked through NCL). Never having been in a small plane before, much less a seaplane, this flight was so much more enjoyable than I expected. And to see the scenery below....amazong. Alaska is so scenic, but viewing it from above was really an awesome experience. The mountains, the glaciers, the river...all phenomenal. The Lodge was great too - staff was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious! I want to thank the bear that provided us with entertainment, hanging out in a tree, watching us suspiciously, before evntually climbing down and ambling away. Staff ensured we weren'd putting ourselves, or the bear, in danger. Nice little nature hike around the property before flying back to Juneau. All in all, a tremendous experience! This excursion was highly recommended by a co-worker and I would truly recommend it to everyone as well. Pricey, but really a worthwhile experience.

Would give 5 stars if not for the swarms of mosquitoes - Seaplane terrific. Fresh grilled salmon wonderful. Scenery beautiful. Swarms of gigantic mosquitoes not fun. I’ve never seen so many so cover up as much as possible use bug spray but you will still get bit

A little dissapointed. - Although this was a nice air flight on the Seaplane. We were all disappointed in how it was executed. Our tour time was 10:00 a.m. and to everyone's surprise they took us to the lodge, and they told us you are eating now. We all understood we would fly, then eat and celebrate our tour. Although the food was good and drinks were offered all 6 of us just had breakfast and were not ready to have a full meal and drinks. When we asked, why do we have to eat now? We were told its at their discretion when they serve.
