Rediscovering the Magic of the Open Road

As a retired teacher with a penchant for road trips, the call of the open road has always been a siren song I cannot resist. This time, it was the allure of the Southwest that beckoned me, promising a journey through some of the most iconic landscapes in America. The Southwest Adventure was the perfect opportunity to rekindle my love for the road, and it did not disappoint.

Our adventure began with the towering cliffs of Zion National Park. The Watchman Trail offered sweeping views that seemed to stretch into eternity, a reminder of the vastness of the American landscape. As I hiked along the trail, memories of past road trips with my family flooded back, each vista a postcard from a bygone era. The town of Seligman, with its vintage cars and colorful murals, was a vibrant celebration of Route 66’s storied past. As we explored the unique souvenir shops, I was reminded of the enduring charm of small-town America, a theme that has always resonated with me.
