Cocoa has never been so great! - Ronald was simply terrific. He was educating, wonderfully interactive, clearly loves his life, funny and inclusive of the whole group. Learning and lovely. All 6 of us loved this immersive tour! Highly recommend!

Chocolate Tour Uvita - This tour surprised me it was much better than I expected. The owner of the cocoa plantation walked us through the entire chocolate making process from start to finish. We went out to see the 7 different varieties of trees. We then went through how they dry and age the cocoa beans. Each of us then got a chance to roast the beans and then shell them. The smell coming off the beans was amazing. It really became strong once we started the grinding process. He even gave my daughter a chocolate facial once all of the beans were ground into a paste but the treat was when we turned our work into hot chocolate. Since I really like dark chocolate I really enjoyed the hot chocolate. You do have an opportunity to purchase some chocolate at the end of the tour. The knowledge I learned and how chocolate is made was fascinating. After tasting the chocolate, I know i will have a hard time eating chocolate processed and purchased from a store.

All about chocolate - Ronald took the time to explain to our small group of all the steps in making chocolate in the ways of Native Americans. We had a blast going through the process and seeing wildlife while looking at cocoa plants.

Fantastic Tour - Our group had an amazing time with Ronald on this tour. His knowledge is second to none and he is so passionate about taking you through all steps of the historical chocolate making process. The chocolate he makes is incredible, and we had to take a bunch home! Highly recommend.

Very authentic and lovingly organized- Pre-Columbian Chocolate Tour in Uvita - Ronald's tour is wonderfully organized and highly recommended. He showed us how to make cocoa, from beans to hot chocolate with milk. His farm is very nicely located in the mountains. Ronald studied agriculture and was heavily involved in the history of the cocoa plant. You can tell with his program. It's very profound and interesting. Of course, in the end we made cocoa ourselves and enjoyed it in hot milk. The culinary highlight was the chocolate with banana. Unbelievably delicious.
We really enjoyed the tour. Even the children (9,14) were after initial complaining, totally enthusiastic.

Do not miss the cacao tour with Ronald - If you’re in Uvita, don’t miss Ronald’s cacao tour! This hands-on experience in chocolate making was fantastic. Ronald, a knowledgeable host, guides you through cacao’s world, covering everything from tree species to harvesting.
The interactive tour lets you roast, peel, and grind cacao beans to create your own chocolate. My teenagers (16 and 11) both enjoyed it and gained a new appreciation for chocolate.
A highlight was the cacao facial, which left my skin glowing. Refreshing smoothies are also available. We tasted the product of our labour: a delicious chocolate paste turned into a hot chocolate and an amazing dip.
Ronald’s passion for cacao and sustainability makes this tour a great way to connect with Costa Rican traditions.
Final Verdict: 5/5 – Highly recommended

A chocolate experience you will never forget - Amazing tour! Couldn’t recommend more! Ronald was amazing- the gardens surrounding the tour are stunning- chocolate so delicious and wonderful to see how it is made. Great for kids also!

Chocolate Tour - Ronald is an engaging host with an easy, conversational style. You’ll learn a lot about chocolate—see the various stages of growth in a pleasant walk in the jungle and even get to husk shells and mash it into a paste—which makes an excellent facial cream. Ron’s sense of humor adds as well.
