Amazing! - This tour was truly amazing! We started off with a group of 3 range rovers. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very good getting group shots and all special effects pics that made it fun and helped bound the group together. He made sure everyone was included. Our driver Herbert was excellent and although his English wasn’t perfect, he communicated and anticipated our needs throughout the whole journey. Our Range Rover had a little battery problem and our guide and drivers all worked well together to ensure the trip went as smoothly as possible. I would say that this tour was one of my top highlight of my travel this time. The only downside is that I didn’t come as prepared in layering my clothing as it was extremely cold and windy on our last day and nothing could warm me up enough so missed going into the hot springs. Food was better than expected. Amazing trip and highly recommend this. Kudos to Marco Antonio, Herbert and the other driver who was also part of the team and the group. We had some amazing connections and hope that we keep in touch.

Three jam packed days - Very well organised and excellent value. Our driver was attentive and safe and every day was jam packed with sites. We were also really pleasantly surprised by the accommodation provided as we ended up with a private room both nights when we were expecting to have to share. I spent a lot of time researching different salt flat companies and am very happy that this was the one we decided on. It was very easy to book directly via WhatsApp making payment on arrival on the morning of the tour. It was so much more than just a tour of the salt flats although my only complaint would be that there was no help provided in taking perspective photos on the salt flats and we did not stop in the area of the flats that had water to take reflective photos.

Beautiful experience - Really complete tour, we saw so many wonderful places in three days. The guide José was very helpful and kind, answered all our questions and curiosity. Great organization, good food even for me who am vegetarian there was no problem. Bring warm clothes because it is cold, even in hostal heating there is none.

Great 1st and 2nd day.. 3rd day could have been better - Day 1 and Day 2 were very well planned. The salt flats and the other sites were great. The food and accommodation were better than what we expected. We had private rooms and hot showers on both nights. The 3rd day is when the cars started ti break down. If one car in the group breaks down all the cars were stopping. Not much site seeing was possible and a few stops were missed because of repeated breakdowns on the 3rd day.

Thank you, John! - We really enjoyed our experience. Our guide John, was friendly. Although I am celiac (gluten allergy), they were able to adapt and offer me options (e.g. gluten-free pasta) * I advise to bring your own options for lunch though. Time passes in the different places was adequate. Guide John was motivated to make us live a memorable experience! In general, we recommend the experience, thank you John!

Wonderful landscape - organisational weaknesses - All the organizations drive to the same stops, which are really breathtaking and highly recommended. The accommodations are hardly different either. These were more comfortable than thought, but still very cold so it was possible to rent a sleeping bag from the organization. Our guide Marco was quite unmotivated on the first day, so sometimes even the impression was created that we were disturbing him while watching his YouTube videos. On the second and third day it was better, but Marco didn't do more than necessary. The salt factory on the first day is not particularly worth seeing and in my view is a waste of time. On the second day we got lost and sat in the car 45min longer than necessary. In addition, the cars were not in the best condition, so our car had to be bridged or pushed several times to start. Lastly, it must be noted that we had maggots and beetles in the vegetables of the food. Overall, the tour is breathtaking and was absolutely worthwhile despite some negative aspects, but Salty Desert Adventures could have done a little more to make the tour even better.

Beautiful, touristy and primitive - Beautiful trip through the countryside of Bolivia. Seen special things where you are off grid for three days. Our guide Miguel was good: spoke good English, told a lot about what we saw and was helpful. Our driver Diego (the group was divided into 2 cars) drove very neatly. We stopped regularly and had ample time to view everything. However, the information about this trip fell somewhat short. The sleeping places are very basic. There are no towels and no stove provided. The latter would be quite nice as it freezes considerably at night. Especially the 2nd place was very primitive. There was not even toilet paper (you could buy), a shared toilet whose two sinks immediately served as a bathroom. No showers available. And only between 18:30 and 21:30 was there electricity. I didn’t see many people ‘enjoying the adventure’ that morning. They were especially busy getting themselves warm. Luckily you're in the hot spring later that morning, where you can warm up. Incidentally, there was someone who had booked a private room at this 2nd location and she did have a private bathroom with a shower and hot water. I would definitely recommend this! What also disappointed me a bit (which is probably also due to my own naivety) is that the trip is actually a caravan of cars that all drive the same route. So although you are off-grid, you are always among (sometimes) crowds of tourists. In addition, you will spend 3 days with 7 people in a Toyota Landcruiser or similar car. If you are looking for comfort then 3 days with three in the back seat is worth considering. Furthermore, you have to take care of your own drinking water and snacks as well as the entrance of certain places you visit. For the price you pay for this trip and the quality of the accommodations, I wouldn't find it strange if these kinds of things are included in the price. In short, nice trip but for us three days was long enough.

Strange Experience - Firstly I want to say that the salt flats are absolutely incredible. The things you do and see on this trip are beautiful and we felt very lucky to be able to see them. We were disappointed when the usual border to Chile was closed due to snow and we had to take a detour which took the entire third day and meant we missed out on seeing a few things we wanted to that day, such as geisers, hot springs, green lake etc. after paying for the ticket to the national park (we met other groups from different companies who fit everything into the second day instead). We also had to pay extra to get to San Pedro de Atacama even though we missed a chunk of the tour and our tour was already more than the people who were going back to Uyuni. I understand the weather can’t be helped, but there was a lack of communication from the tour guide about what was going on and a lot of confusion about us paying extra. Marco, our tour guide, was a bit of a loose canon throughout the trip. He made several members (particularly the women) of the group feel uncomfortable, from the passive aggressive way he spoke to us, blowing hot and cold and disliking simple questions we were asking about timings. Notable things that happened include him refusing to take a photo of us because we were already running late, whilst he was taking his time having a cigarette, getting annoyed at members of the group for not understanding his instructions for the photoshoots, and more. Most importantly, after being taken to a festival / party in the town we were staying in the first night, which was a cool thing to do, Marco, against his own strict instructions for us to have breakfast at 7:00 and leave at 7:30 to beat the crowds, didn’t show until 8:15, evidently hungover and tired, and we didn’t leave until after this. He told us that he had been ‘jumped by four guys’ the night before, which made us feel uneasy. Although he knew his stuff throughout the salt flat tour, he was very unprofessional in many ways, which is a shame, as it is an excellent tour otherwise. The other driver, whose car we swapped to as there was blood in Marco’s car after this incident, Herbert, seemed very relaxed and nice throughout the trip in contrast.
