Train Cemetery - Discover the resting place of Bolivia’s first trains, once owned by the Bolivian Railway Company. This historical site is rich with fascinating stories and offers a unique playground experience for adults.
Colchani - Learn about Bolivia’s salt production. Visitors can explore and shop for handicrafts and authentic woolen clothing at reasonable prices. This is the official gateway to the Salt Flats.
Salar de Uyuni - The majority of our time will be spent here. Besides taking mirror reflection and perspective photos, we will visit the first hotel made entirely of salt, Flag Island for photos with your country’s flag, the Dakar monument, the Stairway to Heaven monument, and the Giant Cacti Island, all before witnessing a breathtaking sunset in the world’s largest salt desert.
After these activities, we will proceed to our accommodation.
Andean Lagoons
Salar de Chiguana - Our day begins with a visit to another salt desert, smaller and brown-colored compared to the Uyuni Salt Flats.
Laguna Canapa - We visit the first Andean lagoon, Cañapa Lagoon, which is a habitat for endemic Andean wildlife.
Laguna Hedionda - Next, we explore Hedionda Lagoon, known for its high sulfur content, earning it the nickname “Smelly Lagoon.” This lagoon is home to pink flamingos. We will then visit a lodge for lunch.
Siloli Desert - Situated at approximately 5000 meters above sea level, this is one of the driest and highest deserts globally. Here, we will see the famous stone tree, a unique rock formation shaped by wind erosion. We enter the Eduardo Abaroa National Reserve, Bolivia’s most remote protected area.
Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - We begin by visiting the Red Lagoon, a 60 km2 body of water. We will trek around this stunning lagoon, home to pink flamingos, before heading to our accommodation.
Surrealistic Deserts
Geiser Sol de la Manana - We rise early to witness the geysers at their peak. Located at 4800 meters above sea level, it may be quite cold, but we will see the first rays of the morning sun.
Aguas Termales de Polques - Prepare your swimsuit for the hot springs! This area is rich in volcanic activity, allowing us to rejuvenate and enjoy the dawn in the thermal waters amidst a surreal landscape.
Salvador Dali Desert - After enjoying the hot springs, we will visit the Salvador Dalí Desert, renowned as the ‘most surrealistic landscape’ in the world due to its resemblance to “The Persistence of Memory,” a 1931 artwork by Spanish artist Salvador Dalí.
Laguna Verde - We will explore the Green Lagoon, located at Bolivia’s southwestern tip. This site offers a spectacular view of the Licancabur volcano, which has served as a natural border between Bolivia and Chile since 1904, following the Pacific Ocean war between the two countries.
After this, we will return to Uyuni, making several stops along the way for restroom breaks, snacks, and lunch.
