Uyuni - Colchani - Thunupa Volcano - Sunset View
Train Cemetery - The tour kicks off at 10:30 AM with a visit to the renowned Train Cemetery, where visitors can explore old steam locomotives that were once vital to Bolivia’s mining industry.
Colchani - The journey continues to Colchani, a quaint village where locals work on the salt flats. Here, unique salt handicrafts and traditional textiles made from llama and alpaca fibers are available. Visitors can also observe the salt processing ovens, where salt is refined for market use.
Salar de Uyuni - Just 5 km away are the famous Uyuni Salt Flats. Upon arrival, visitors will see the “Eyes of Water,” small water pools emerging from beneath the salt crust, and large salt mounds created by workers, offering excellent photo opportunities.
Dakar Monument - The next stop is the Dakar Monument, honoring the famous rally race that traverses this area, followed by a visit to the Playa Blanca Salt Hotel, now a museum to prevent environmental damage from overnight stays on the salt flats.
Tunupa Volcano - The tour then heads towards the Thunupa Volcano, where visitors can enjoy stunning reflections on the salt flats, especially during the rainy season. Flamingos and grazing llamas may also be spotted. A special photo session will capture these unique landscapes.
San Juan - At the volcano’s base, there are both salt hotels and traditional accommodations for an overnight stay. After coffee at the lodging, guests can re-enter the salt flats to witness the breathtaking sunset (optional).
Chihuana Salt Flat -
San Juan - Early risers have the option to take a morning walk on the salt flats to watch the sunrise, a magical experience in this stunning environment.
Isla Incahuasi - Around noon, the tour continues across the salt flats to visit Incahuasi Island, home to giant cacti and unique vegetation. A hike to the top offers an incredible 360° panoramic view of the salt flats.
Salar de Uyuni - After exploring this extraordinary location, the tour returns to Uyuni, arriving at approximately 5:30 PM.
