Colors and ethereal and ancestral music in the parish of St. Nicolas of Valencia - Exciting and unexpected experience at the Church of San Nicolas in Valencia. We entered this parish, famous because it is also called the Sistine Chapel of Valencia (as it is all frescoed) but, we did not expect the play of light projected on the frescoes in the upper part of the church with liturgical, ethereal / ancestral music that, from 4 pm to 4.15 pm enraptured us. The cost to enter the church of San Nicola (with audio guides) is not low, but it is really worth visiting it just because it looks all frescoed and with the play of light then, it becomes real magic. Visit highly recommended.

Magnificent spectacle - A magnificent church, made even more magnificent by the spectacular play of lights that is produced at regular intervals. I recommend to inquire about the timetable so as not to miss it.

Go, even if there is no lightshow - Saint Nicholas is a beautiful church with outstanding ceiling fresco painting. However, since it is a little smaller, it does not automatically make it to the top 5 list for Valencia. The light show has made it a more famous destination. The light show partly highlights the ceiling paintings that you would not normally have been staring at for a long time. Glad we added this church.

Try and get there for the light show - If I hadn't put the address for this church in Google maps I would have walked past it. Its down a tiny alleyway, and almost looks like an entrance to a supermarket. But when you get inside....wow!!!!. I was in time for the light show, and I've got to say it was amazing. The church itself seems very small compared to some, but it really does pack in some treasures. I was lucky and walked straight in with no queue, but when I came out it was a different story. I'm glad I got there when I did. The light show is definitely the highlight of the visit, and also the story of St Nicholas (Santa)

Buy the joint ticket if you can for three great visits - Not sure the light shows are quite the route to go, a bit too Disney really, however it was enjoyable visit and the place was beautiful. Slightly tricky to find. For an extra 7 Euros we bought the enhanced ticket which gave us free access to the Church of Santos Joanes and the Hortensia Herrero Art Center. The Art Center turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip so the joint ticket was great value.

Vulgar and kitsch - Beautifully decorated and well restored baroque church. The frescoed ceiling vault and walls are spectacular. But once the light and music show starts, it deteriorates. A beautiful church becomes an over the top, disneyland style spectacle. Vulgar and kitsch. Save your money, and go while it is open for mass if you want to appreciate its beauty.

Overpriced gimmick. - Nice small church with helpful audio guide and added light show. The light show was interesting, not as great a spectacle as I'd imagined, I was slightly underwhelmed. It is way overpriced. We have visited churches all over the world and this just felt like a money making scheme. It has an amazing ceiling and this should be celebrated, not turned into a gimmicky money making tourist scheme. Shame on them.
