Chichén Itzá and cenotes - A very nice day with Jesus our super driver. After Chichén Itzá, we pass through some cenotes ending with that of Puerta del Sueno. Day organized by the taxi company personalizado. I recommend.

Great trip, definitely recommended! - Nice trip. Visited 2 cenotes, the first was the Cenote Samula. We were there around 9:30am and were the first visitors. Got the whole cenote for ourselves. The lunch in the afternoon was open buffet and very good. Around 2pm we visited Chichen Itza until 4pm. It was not crowdy and we got pictures without any bystanders. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Hitchhikers of the big tour - It was quite a challenge to find this tour from Valladolid with a bit of the same Service as you would from Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Some had no reviews, others no guide and still others no food. It started with a very friendly guide who only took us two to the first cenote. He was a really nice guide who told us a lot and made nice contact. He really took us under his wing and was very clear about things like what time we had to be true. Because we started at the cenote it was still very quiet and we had it to ourselves. It wasn't until we left that it got a little crowded there. The second stop was the welcome to the Maya community. Here we would join the large group. This turned out to be a tour that operates from Cancun but you can also join from Valladolid. But it stops there, too. We didn't pay much and were able to see some cenotes and chichen itza this way, something I definitely recommend if you are here. But that says it all. We really had to wait more than an hour before we had some clarity. They had nicely arranged that we could sit next to each other on the bus. However, it turned out that it was especially easier for them not to provide us with the things that were included in the Cancun group, but not in the package we received from Valladolid. We felt like sugar that had accidentally ended up in the salt pot. The little things like kindness, a bottle of water or an umbrella were not included for us. There was also very minimal communication in English. But the tour took us where we needed to go and gave instructions as to what time we should be back. For the money we paid, that was really fine. But we do think it is strange that we join a large group and were really treated differently. At Chichen Itza we were fortunately given a guide who worked there. She was a very capable and intelligent lady who told us about the Maya with great passion and humor. For transportation I would definitely recommend this trip because you get where you need to be. We personally would have liked to stay a little longer with the cenotes and chichen itza. Just know if you book this that you will be nothing more than a little sister who has to play along with the big one by mom but is not really welcome.

Better make the visits by oneself - It was way frustrating. Very poor information. I loved the sites but there was not a clear description of the itinerary, and the time for each activity. I didn’t know I would join a larger group that departed from a different city. I waited 1,5 hours in the meeting point as the description showed the meeting time at 7:30 in the morning, as I didn’t find anyone at the spot I tried to contact them through messages, there I saw the time set at 9:00, I sent a message for them to confirm the time and I never got an answer. The visit at the first spot that was a beautiful cenote, was in a rush, only 40 minutes, I didn’t even suspect that the first activity was a cenote, so between changing clothes before and after getting into the cenote, I could only swim less than 10 minutes, to later wait more than 1,5 hours at a handcraft center which I didn’t know we were going to visit and didn’t have any interest in. We reached Chichen Itza around midday, which I considered the worst time, not only because of the sun and heat but also the crowds. The thing included in the trip described “tour guide” which I assumed was a guide at the archeological site, but again, not guide, the guides were there just to give us the tickets and rush us to keep the times on track. When I booked the tour, there were no indication to choose between an option that includes beverages and an option that doesn’t, turn out the large group, about 40 people, had beverages included all day and the lend of an umbrella during Chichen Itza visit, I didn’t have the chance to upgrade, so I basically felt like a second class customer all the time.

Total disaster - Where to start, very weak. First of all, it was almost impossible to figure out where the pick-up was taking place. It worked out after all. It takes effort and hardship to figure out what is happening now. Ultimately, you are carted from tourist trap to tourist trap, in two huge buses. You could buy a bottle of overpriced liquor to loosen it up. Lunch is a bad buffet. Then Chichen Itza, most ridiculous leadership ever. A guy explains for 20 minutes in hard-to-understand English, which is easy to read on Wikipedia. All in all - total failure! Finger weg!!
