Gozo Getaway in just 45 mins. - The Fast Ferry to Gozo is efficient and reasonably priced, taking just 45 minutes. It’s a convenient way to explore Gozo at your own pace.
For a full day, consider the hop-on-hop-off package, with buses every 45 minutes. While some stops are better than others, careful planning ensures you make the most of your trip. Unfortunately, the audio guide wasn’t working during our visit.
If you’re short on time, we suggest skipping the full package and simply book the ferry. From there, take a public bus directly to the Citadel in Victoria, the highlight of our visit.
Tickets are available online or onsite, with departures from Grand Harbour. The 08:45 ferry from Valletta is perfect for maximizing your day.
Gozo is well worth the trip!

Not satisfactory - The outbound ferry was an absolute nightmare because of the high waves that made half the passengers vomit... on the way back instead luckily all good, the ferry is comfortable. We bought the combination with the hop on/off bus, but upstairs it is open and without any cover. When we arrived it was raining a lot, so the audio did not work because, being wet upstairs, you could not turn it on. Finally, we got off at a stop, made the visit and then literally abandoned: we saw in the distance the bus, but it deviated from the route and probably went elsewhere. We waited a while to see if the next one came, but nothing. So we called the company who after more than 30 minutes had us picked up by a taxi and took us to the port, 5 minutes before the ferry departed. I wonder how people who don't speak English would have done that.

Could be better - We bought the combined ticket of high speed ferry and hop on hop off bus. The ferry section of our trip was great, more so coming back to Valletta as the sea was calmer. The ferry itself was comfortable, clean and fast. The hop on bus was a different story, we were given headphones but the audio system didn’t work. The driver stopped at each stop and said the beach is that way or you can go this way to etc. If you stayed on the bus like us, then there was no info about where we were, what we were looking at etc. only info we had was a basic map/leaflet they gave us when we got on. We finished up cutting the bus journey short and staying in Victoria, then making about own way back to the ferry port.

Great ferry rubbish bus tour - This is worse hop on hop off ever. First driver couldn’t be bothered. Head sets didn’t work out n 3 different busses, so zero info about Gozo. We stopped at beach ( waste). Next bus late. Stop at historical temple sight was good but we only got off cos returning passengers told us it was worth it. Then we had to sit outside a factory for 10 mins in heat. Got bus at Victoria not realising it went straight to harbour. Rubbish tour. Ear phones don’t work. Waste of time. Think red buses do better

Should have hired a car. - Boat trip from Valetta to Gozo was fine apart from being herded like cattle to get on. When we arrived to Gozo we were made wait over half an hour in the blistering sun and wouldn't let us on the but to at least sit down even though it was sitting there empty.
When we eventually got on the bus with people pushing and shoving and not paying any attention to the orderly queue that had formed ( driver didn't make any attempt to control) we were all handed out headphones which were a complete waste as nobody was able to use them as commentary didn't work. We were on three separate buses and was the same on each.
We said it to each driver to be told it does work but will get it checked out back in the depot..
This really ruined the tour as didn't have a clue what was going on.
Couldn't wait to get off at the end..

Worst ever bus experience - Firstly, the sea crossings were both excellent. The problems are all with the bus. The timetable is a shambles, as a result the buses are overcrowded so you are reluctant to hop off in case you can't hop back on again. But in any case the schedule makes it practically impossible to stop at every opportunity for fear of missing the return catamaran. One bus broke down and we were forced to leave another for a later one.
Given how much of the combined ticket was allocated to the bus, the service is a disgrace.

It is a scam!! They only took my money!! - I bought a ticket for Gozo ferry +hop on/off and when presented the voucher in the ticket office they told me that is not valid and that they dont have me on the list. Had to pay 30 eur again!!!

Rubbish bus - Do not waste your money or time on the combination ferry with hoho bus. The ferry ride is quick and comfortable but the bus is awful. Noisy, rickety and earphones that didn’t work. We had no idea where we were until we reached Victoria and were told in no uncertain tones to get off. Which we happily did. The only reason we booked the bus was because we were told it was the only way to see Gozo apart from overpriced taxis. We were told this by the ticket office at Valletta. A total lie, there were plenty of real buses which we took advantage of once we had escaped the hoho. The only reason we have given one star is because there is no option for zero stars.

DO NOT TAKE THE HOP ON HOP OFF SERVICE unless you want to waste your day. - The catamaran is a nice 45 minutes trip, smooth, comfortable and on time. But the ho-ho service that is sold in the package is absolutely terrible. DO NOT TAKE it. I repeat: DO NOT. If you really want to waste a whole day waiting for the bus and if you want to walk for hours, because most bus stops are far from the destinations, I still wouldn't recommend it. The schedule is totally random, so you can't plan any visits. In some cases they drop you 25 min walk away. Many of the headphone connectors don't work, so you miss any explanations. My guess is that they have just one bus for the whole island, which made it impossible for us to visit all the things we had planned.
Mind you, These are the green busses. There is another line with red bussed which might be better.
