- Mulagandha Kuti Vihar - Constructed in 1931 by Sri Lankan Buddhist Monk Angarika Dharmapala, the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar monastery features a golden statue of Buddha. The temple’s walls are beautifully adorned with fresco paintings illustrating scenes from Buddha’s life. These frescoes were created by Japanese artist Kosetsu Nousu in 1936. The Buddha statue is depicted in the posture of delivering the first teaching of the Dharma to the five ascetics.
- Dhamek Stupa - Located in the southeastern part of the Sarnath ruins, the Dhamek Stupa is a solid cylindrical structure with a dome measuring 93 feet in diameter. The stupa stands 110 feet above the surrounding ruins and is believed to mark the location where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his initial five disciples.
