Rahul Recommend Varanasi Tour - Thoroughly recommend. Raul is an excellent tour guide and his spoken English is good and he is easy to understand. Rahul is keen to please and offers to tailor the tour to ensure the items of interest to you are covered in addition to the obvious sites he makes alternative suggestions and recommendations. I found Rahul to be very polite, knowledgeable, full of energy, accommodating of rest stops and under his guidance when and when not to photograph and he took me to authentic Indian restaurants for lunch where the food was great and . Twice he got me a front row position at the gangarati to watch the priests worship with fire, water and…….. priceless. Varanasi is a very busy city and the old town is a rabbit warren of narrow streets; Rahul knows his way around always having interesting places to visit. I thoroughly recommend this tour but would advise you to discuss with Rahul the transport options; there can be a lot of walking and if you are able, riding pillion on his motorbike is a better option than an Auto/Tuk-Tuk as he can get the bike into the old town where Auto/TukTuk cannot reach. We stumbled upon an excellent local Artisan coffee house which, if flat whites are your thing, you must go!

An Unforgettable Varanasi Experience with Rahul - Our two-day tour in Varanasi with Rahul was an absolute highlight of our trip to India. From the moment he picked us up at the train station, he welcomed us with kindness and made us feel completely at ease.
Rahul impressed us with his deep knowledge of the city, its culture, and its spiritual background. He truly knows every corner of Varanasi — thanks to him, we got to experience not only the famous sights like the Ganga Aarti ceremony and the sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, but also many hidden gems we would have never found on our own: secret temples, quiet courtyards, colorful local markets, and places full of atmosphere and meaning.
He shared stories and insights with great enthusiasm, making every stop memorable and authentic. Rahul also gave excellent food recommendations — from local Masala Chai and refreshing Lassis to small, family-run restaurants away from the tourist tracks.
What we appreciated most was how attentive and patient he was, always giving us time for photos, conversations, or just taking in the moment. It’s clear that Rahul truly loves his work and takes pride in showing visitors the real heart of Varanasi.
We can wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to not just see, but truly experience Varanasi. With Rahul as your guide, the city reveals its magic in the most personal and unforgettable way.

Amazing tour in Varanasi with Rahul - Our two-day tour in Varanasi with Rahul was an absolute highlight of our trip to India. Already at the pick up at the train station Rahul welcomed us with his open, warm manner and made sure that we immediately felt comfortable.
We were particularly impressed by his extensive knowledge of the city, its history and spiritual significance. Rahul really knows Varanasi from every angle – thanks to him, we could not only experience the famous sights such as the Ganga Aarti ceremony or the sunrise on the Ganges, but also discover many hidden, little-known places: small temples, secret farms, local markets and encounters with people we would never have met without him.
His storytelling style was lively and full of passion, so each stop seemed interesting and authentic. Rahul has also made great culinary recommendations – from local Masala Chai to traditional Lassis and cosy little restaurants off the beaten track.
It was especially nice that he always made us feel like we had time – whether it was for photos, conversations with locals or simply to be amazed. You can tell Rahul loves his work and is there with all his heart.
We can highly recommend this tour – especially for those who not only want to see Varanasi but really want to experience it. With Rahul as a guide, the holy city will be an unforgettable experience!

A Truly Authentic and Unforgettable Varanasi Experience - Streetwise Varanasi Tours offered an unforgettable and deeply immersive journey through the ghats and old city. The guide shared history, culture, and spiritual insights with clarity and warmth. I appreciated the flexibility, the calm pacing, and the access to places only locals know. This tour felt safe, genuine, and thoughtfully organized. Truly one of the most meaningful ways to experience Varanasi.

The best *Insider* guides and tour of Varanasi - I've booked Streetwise Varanasi for two different trips in 2024. Rahul and his team are excellent guides who offer a unique tour of Varanasi. I was specific about my needs (I was filming a documentary) and Rahul made sure everything I needed to see and experience was covered. He can organize every detail from an airport meeting to hotel recommendations to experiencing an *insider* tour of Varanasi. I've been to Varanasi many times since 2003. Streetwise Varanasi Tours are wonderful guides to this sacred city.

Take a guide - that will change the whole experience - Thanks Cristo for a wonderful, insightful, informative weekend in Varanasi. I would recommend Cristo for his immense passion and knowledge about the city and culture, as well as openness and professionalism. We were 2 ladies in a group, and i felt secure and taken care of. Cristo met us in the airport, and also he was meeting us every morning in a hotel. I totally recommend his assistance if you travel alone or ladies only group

Lovely Varanasi visit! - In the month of March, I visited India with a friend through Eco India Trips and in Varanasi our guide had sent us off with Rahul, and Streetwise Varanasi. We had a lovely experience! Rahul was kind, informative, patient, and so very knowledgeable about Varanasi. He showed us continuous beautiful and interesting places and was very amendable to requests for additional stops. Rahul, thank you for showing us your most incredible and beautiful city! Please add in more street food! 😆

A very disappointing experience in Varanasi - I must be cursed, judging from the other reviews here, because I had a complete letdown.
The tour began at the hotel reception where I met Rahul Cristoforo, who appeared unwell and was not dressed professionally. He informed me he couldn't guide due to health issues but had arranged for his uncle 'Guru' to take his place. Rahul assured me Guru's English was excellent and his knowledge was on par with his own. Trusting the other reviews, I decided to give it a chance.
Sadly, Guru's English was very poor, making communication difficult. He led me through the old city's maze-like streets, stopping constantly to point out unremarkable things like broken stones or dilapidated buildings. Despite my lack of interest, he insisted on visiting his 'aroma therapy' shop and kept misleading me about how close we were, leading us through increasingly crowded streets. He wasn't attentive and I even lost him a couple of times due to his fast pace.
I missed out on understanding the spiritual significance of Varanasi due to the language barrier. Additionally, Guru was haggling over every rupee for tuk-tuks, because the 'local transportation' was included in the tour price and he wanted to save some money, but we wasted a lot of time.
To his credit, he navigated the city's labyrinthine streets well, and I did see some hidden corners, though they felt sketchy and unsafe at times.
I had to cut the tour short as I wasn't comfortable. The next day, I booked a different tour with a professional guide through my hotel, and it was a night-and-day difference.
While I believe the people running this tour are good human beings trying to make a living, the entire operation lacks the professionalism and quality one would expect given the price and reviews. For what I paid (~$180), this tour was a complete scam and I'll be requesting a refund.
I've been to 45 countries and taken many guided tours and I always try to be understanding while traveling, so I'm very sorry to write this negative review. But I hope this feedback helps other travelers and the organizers, too.
