Fun and Unique Experience! - We had such a fun time in this Vegan/Vegetarian Cooking Class! It was a very unique experience in the comfort of Massimo’s homey apartment. He was very attentive to our dietary requirements and even contacted us beforehand to make sure he had the right ingredients!

My favorite experience - While traveling I appreciate opportunities to see how the locals live. Massimo welcomed everyone in our intimate group of three pairs and took us to the local market. The market was quiet on Sunday but there were vendors with fresh produce including the baby zucchini that went in a salad and a fig as dessert. We then meandered through the streets and alleyways and crossed bridges while Massimo shared unusual points of interest. His home included an atrium with fresh basil, mint and bay leaf. In the apartment we sat around a table while he demonstrated making the multiple courses of our meal. He made pizza crust with white and farro flour, yeast, salt, sugar, tepid water, and olive oil. The dough was poured and spread out on parchment paper rather than rolled. A focaccia dough was made with semolina and potato water then both were placed in the oven to rise. A farro risotto was added to the sliced baby zucchini salad. While he was sharing stories of his grandmother in the kitchen he shared sparkling wine and a beautifully light red wine that his family makes. The pizza was topped with a homemade marinara, buffalo mozzarella, garlic and basil. The focaccia was topped with rosemary, garlic and olive oil on one end and the most delicious pickled onion on the other.. He also made a wholewheat flat bread to eat our salad with. Once the cooking was nearly done we moved into a dining room that had furnishing that had been handed down through the ages and eclectic artwork by local artists. We had salad made with fresh heirloom tomatoes and an additional green salad with the most amazing vinaigrette I have tasted. For dessert we had goat cheese with honey and fig with chopped pistachios and honey. The meal was topped with a home seasoned grappa. The food was superb and I am anxious to try duplicating the recipes but what I will remember most is how welcome we felt in Massimo’s home. He has a humility and charm that makes you fell like you have been friends forever. I will definitely come back to spending time with Massimo and the other guests as a highlight of a wonderful trip.

Must-Do Experience in Venice - Our cooking experience with Massimo was one of the best parts of our entire trip. He welcomed us in his home which was beautifully adorned and was a perfect escape from the sun and heat outside. Then the food, which we helped prepare with his direction, was a symphony of flavors all made completely from scratch. Tomato salad, multiple varieties of pizza and focaccia, paired with fresh goat cheese and accompanied by homemade grappa and wine. He kindly gave us the recipes for us to remember him by and prepare ourselves at home. He was a witty, gracious, and attentive host who made everyone in our group feel welcome and included. His class is a must-do experience in Venice!

Best Meal of Our Trip — Fun for All Ages! - We had the most wonderful vegan cooking class with Massimo — truly one of the highlights of our trip to Venice and the best meal we had all week! He took us through the local market, then showed us how to make simple yet amazing food, including focaccia, mini aubergine pizzas, and the most delicious fig dessert, all paired with great wine from his family. Massimo went above and beyond to make the experience fun for our 8-year-old daughter, involving her in each step and making sure she felt included. The entire experience was engaging and delicious — highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice!

Incredible, unforgettable experience - What an incredible experience. Cooking vegan pizza with Massimo was beyond any possible expectations. He took our small group on a tour of Venice marketplaces and hand selected fresh produce for our dishes while connecting with us and teaching us bits of history, culture and architecture facts. Then, he welcomed us into his beautiful home, where we were treated to amazing conversation and wine. He’s an expert chef and we learned a ton about Italian cuisine. Then, we ate a delicious, several course meal and enjoyed more wine! Massimo is charismatic, hospitable and very kind. 11/10 experience and the highlight of our trip.

More than a cooking class, amazing introduction to vegan and Venetian cuisine! - Thank you! What a wonderful experience! We visit the traditional market with local produce. We purchased fresh fruits to eat, dried herbs and spices to bring back home. Terrific experience ! Massimo is a wonderful instructor and had a great personality to lead the class. Only four people in the class which was perfect in the well designed ancient venice house setting. Massimo teaching is so knowledgeable and explains every ingredient and it’s purpose as we go. It’s very hands on, everyone gets involved in the preparation and cooking and we are given the recipes to follow and make notes. We are told about substitutes for ingredients that may not be readily available for us at home too! After a very enjoyable two and a half hours we sit down again to enjoy our feast! Can’t recommend this enough, every recipe can be adapted for non vegans too!

Delicious ingredients, good company and healthy recipes! - The cooking class was wonderful. We loved going to the market first. The facilities were clean and Massimo made the lesson easy, so much fun and interesting. The food was great and we were happy to get a copy of the recipes after class. I would highly recommend this class.Visiting the market was an interesting addition. Overall experience was wonderful. The class was centered around delicious familiar foods that happen to be vegan. If you require or prefer an allergy friendly menu, please let Massimo know ! We decide the menu togheter and was amazing. We prepare togheter a Caponata with focaccia....caponata consisting of chopped fried eggplant/aubergine and other vegetables, seasoned with olive oil, tomato sauce, celery, olives, and capers, in an sweet and sour sauce. The basil from the garden was so good.the house was very beautiful, an old venetian house. we want to do another vegan cooking class with Massimo! we will be back!
